Vintage Frills Beauty – Skincare Review

November 6, 2012

Since I started my regular beauty posts I’ve been sent some really lovely products to try. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying out some new skin care products…

YES NURSE, PROTECT YOUR LOVELY HANDS:

Yes Nurse hand cream was developed with nurses in mind, constant hand washing takes it toll on delicate hands and can leave them dry sore and cracked. As a mum of two I find I am constantly cleaning and washing my hands and they do suffer especially in the cold winter months so this product was perfect for me. It contains a selection of natural ingredients including manuka honey, pomegranate seed oil, aloe vera, wheat germ oil, passion fruit seed oil, sweet almond oil and white willow bark extract, as well as vitamin E and B5.

I really loved this product and have been using it every day, after washing my hands. You don’t need to use much so the 50ml tube will last a while. The cream soaks in quickly leaving no residue and kept my hands feeling soft for a couple of hours. After using it for a few days my hands looked and felt much better.

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone whose hands need a little tlc.

WELEDA SKIN FOOD:

Skin Food is a very vintage product which Weleda have been producing since 1926! This yummy product has a huge celebrity following and is used on very dry areas of skin like elbows and knees. It’s great in the cold weather when wind and central heating take their toll and gives an instant moisture hits to skin that is tired, overworked and in need of a quick replenishing fix.

It is made with organic sunflower seeds and extracts of wild pansy, chamomile, Calendula and rosemary and fragranced with refreshing essential oils including sweet orange and lavender.

The products smells beautiful and feel thick and oily. I used it on my dry knees and elbows while on holiday as my skin was getting dried out from being in the pool. I feels a little greasy when first applied but it does provide a protective barrier and is actually absorbed very quickly. It really did the trick at eliminating dry skin and it is something I will be using regularly.

I also applied it to my face at night as a night cream and my skin felt fabulous and really glowed the next day.

If you don’t mind products that feel a little heavy at first then I would definitely recommend this as it really does work.

 SKINETICA ANTI BLEMISH TREATMENT

Skinetica is a unique new treatment for acne, spot and blemishes that doe not use any harsh or toxic chemicals. Many traditional acne treatments contain very harsh chemicals which can cause side effects and health problems.

I’ve never suffered from acne and I do generally have quite clear skin although I do get the odd breakout. As if on cue a few days after being sent Skinetica I developed a big spot on my chin. I applied the Skinetica to clean skin once every twelve hours as directed and it seemed to do the trick. It didn’t sting like most cleansers and left no residue.

The product is a clear liquid similar to a toner which you apply to a little cotton wool and rub over he effected area. I liked the fac that it was gentle and didn’t contain anything harmful and that it continues to work on the skin all day.

My only complaint would be that the bottles are quite small so you would have to use carefully and sparingly.
