It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

December 3, 2012

This weekly Meme is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

I’ve had a pretty busy reading week. I’ve also had a pretty busy baking week after getting a little carried away baking for a cake sale at my daughters school! So not really had as much time as usual to read. Thank God for audio books!

So this week I finished reading Bared to You by Sylvia Day, I actually really enjoyed this one. Will be writing a review soon.

I also finished my audiobook of Rosie Hopkin’s Sweetshop of Dreams by Jenny Colgan, I loved this and had a good old cry over some really touching bits.

I have persevered with From Notting Hill with Love… Actually and have started to really enjoy it so I’m glad I stuck that one out.

Having finished all my audiobooks I downloaded J K Rowling’s A Casual Vacancy which I had already started reading a while ago and I’m going to listen to the rest while doing the washing and cleaning which seems to take up a lot of my day! So far I’m really enjoying this one. I think as long as you forget who it’s by and put Harry Potter out of your head then this is a really good book.

I have done a couple of non fiction reviews on the blog this week. Firstly Style Me Vintage: Tea Parties, I love this book and really enjoyed reading it. I’ve been working on complimenting my non fiction reviews with some styled photographs to give my reviews a little extra edge and I’m really happy with the results.

I have also reviewed The Biscuiteers Book of Iced Biscuits and used some tips for my own baking. Again this is a really enjoyable book with loads of great ideas.

My review pile of non fiction has really stacked up over the last fortnight so I’ll be working through them this week. I like to take my time to review them properly and try out the projects from them so it’s going to be a busy week.

I’d also like to get stuck into The First Last Kiss by Ali Harris, I got my review copy this week and I cannot wait to start it. The book isn’t out until January so I feel very honored to be able to read it now. I loved Ali’s first book Miracle on Regent Street and after chatting to her on Twitter and having a look at her website she seems like a really lovely person. I hope this book is every bit as successful for her as her first.

Anyway today is my 27th birthday so I do plan to relax as much as possible today. My youngest daughter isn’t feeling very well so going to be giving her lot’s of cuddles and my husband has the day off work so it should be a nice day in doors for us.

I agree completely about The Casual Vacancy! I really enjoyed it, but I had to put the idea of Harry Potter completely out of my brain.

Hope you have a lovely birthday 🙂

Happy happy birthday! And I agree that The Casual Vacancy is good once you forget that it was written by the same woman who wrote Harry Potter. Hope your week is awesome!
