To deal with the complete shortage of affordable vintage out there, I have decided to start making my own vintage style dresses. I’m hoping to master a few patterns and then make them in different fabrics and finishes. I’ve made e few skirts over the years but never a dress so fingers crossed I get the hang of it!
To start I have ordered this pattern from Ebay…
It’s a copy of an early 1960s pattern by Butterick available here. I like the simplicity of the design, and I think it’ll work well in a variety of colours and fabrics.
I bought some cheap fabric for my first attempt as I’m sure I’ll make a few mistakes so I’ve ordered this simple floral cotton available here. At £2.99 a metre it’s not the end of the world if a little gets waisted.
I like the darker colour as I think I could wear it year-round.
I have also ordered this book to help me if I need it…
