It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

February 11, 2013

It's Monday, What are you Reading copy

It’s Monday What are you Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey, it’s a chance to share and plan our reading week.

I’ve been so busy this last fortnight, working hard on the house and the kids so had hardly any time for books at all. I didn’t have time to do a post last week but in case you missed my post from a couple of weeks ago, I shared some pictures from outside Jane Austen’s house in Bath, I know many of you are fans of Jane Austen and over in the US so if you would like to see where she lived you can here.

On the subject of Jane Austen I finished re-reading Persuasion this week. I have read it a few times and I absolutely love this book. It’s great having been to Bath a few weeks ago as I can picture all the places described in the book.

I also finished reading Before I Met You by Lisa Jewell, this was a great book set in both 1995 and 1920 and it tells the story of a women discovering the past of her grandmother. I really loved this book and the picture it paints of early 1920s London. This one comes highly recommended.

I have started reading The Island by Victoria Hislop, after it was recommended to me by several members of The Vintage Book Group.

The Vintage Book Group are currently reading The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean, you can join in here.

The TBR list is the same as it has been for a few weeks now. I need to make a dent in it rather than picking up new books!

I also wrote a review of Handmade Wedding Crafts by the lovely Betty Bee see the review here.

I hope everyone has a great week, what are you reading?

Persuasion is a wonderful read. If I didn’t have so many other books on my list I’d re-read it too.

It’s one of Jane Austin’s best books. There’s always the film as well 🙂

I LOVED The Island. Hope you’re enjoying it. I’ve read one or two other books by Lisal Jewell which I thought were good.

I’m reading Divorce for Beginners by Sophie King. No, not a self-help book! 🙂 It’s chick-lit.

I read The Island a few years ago, but it was pre-blogging so I don’t remember too much about what happened! I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

I was surprised when I finally got around to reading Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and enjoyed it tremendously. I feel like I should read all her books as a reading challenge in 2014 since people seem to be so passionate about her and her work.

Jane Austen is full of wit, I love her writing, although I am always filled with a feeling of wanting to know what happens next!

I’ve only read one Jane Austen book – Pride and Prejudice. It was excellent and I do need to read more. Persuasion is on my Kindle. Have a great week.
