Me Made May – Day Three

When I started Me Made May I pledged to wear at least 3 handmade outfits each week during May. I also pledged to finish off all my unfinished projects. Today was a sewing day and I’ve been working on a dress I started a while ago and a new dress.

I am making another Butterick 1960 Dress like the navy one, this time in a pretty pink floral fabric. I’m going to use the same technique as last time and trim it with bias binding as it worked really well.

I have also started to make a dress with one of the vintage sheets I got at a charity shop this week. I love using the thick purple fabric, as it’s really heavy and hangs beautifully. I’m using this Simplicity Project Runway pattern which I got free with Sew magazine a few months ago. So far it’s been really easy to follow, but finishing it off will be tricky for me. I’ve not been sewing clothes for long and have kind of taught myself as I go. I’ve never done a neckline with interfacing so far, so I’m just trying to figure it out before I finish the dress. I’m hoping to get it finished tonight so I can wear it tomorrow.

I have a few other dresses planned for next week, I’m going to make the simplicity pattern again with the other vintage sheet I bought, and another couple of dresses with fabric from my fabric stash, I’m not sure which pattern yet. I’d also like to make a circle skirt.
