Vintage Frills Wishlist #2

June 8, 2013

Every week I share my favourite things from the internet…

Books – I just received a copy of Astor Place Vintage from the author Stephanie Lehmann. I’m a few chapters in and really enjoying it. So far I’d say it’s like Isobel Wolff’s A Vintage Affair meets Mr Selfridge meets Sex and The City and I hope the rest of the book is as good as the start. The story is about a vintage store owner who discovers a dairy from 1907 and finds similarities between her life and that of Olive a woman living in Edwardian era New York. Pre order your copy from Amazon here.

Days Out – I am desperate to get back to Bath to see the Fifty Fabulous Frocks exhibition at The Fashion Museum. The exhibition is a wonderful collection of rare, old and significant dresses as well as the downright quirky. It looks amazing and I only missed it by a few days when I visited Bath earlier in the year so I’ going to do my best to make it there soon. Find out more here.

Beauty – I love Besame cosmetics, they are about as authentically vintage as it’s possible to be without buying and using the real thing (which frankly is a bit gross) I’ve had my eye on this compact powder for ages. the packaging is beautiful and if I had this I don’t think I’d ever stop powdering my nose. Besame cosmetics are sold in the UK at What Katie Did.

Fashion – I love this beautiful floral dress by Lady Vintage. Now we finally have sun in London, I can see myself wandering around in this dress with a pair of pretty ballet pumps. This dress is priced at £45 and is available from Amazon here.

Projects – A few days ago I dyed some white Ikea curtains pink in the washing machine and I loved it so much I now want to dye everything! I love this china blue colour and I’d like to dye some curtains and cushions from my bedroom in it. Dylon machine dyes can be bought from Hobby Craft here.

Home – I am in love with these cute retro flasks from Dot Com Gift Shop and I think they’d make the perfect addition to a summer picnic. These cost £12.95 each and are available here.
