Framing My Favourite Brooches

July 14, 2013

Vintage Brooch Display

I have a really pretty collection of vintage brooches. I used to share a stall at vintage fairs with my lovely friend Tracy from Macmillan-Cole Vintage Jewellery. The problem with working near to so many fabulous jewels was that I couldn’t resist buying lots of them! One thing I always look out for are hand embroidered brooches and painted porcelain ones. I don’t actually wear them very much but I think they are so beautiful I just like to look at them.

When you have jewellery that is mainly there to be looked at and enjoyed you need a nice way to display them – they are just too nice to be shut away in a jewellery box! A few years ago I made this little padded frame to show off my favourite pieces. It was so easy, I just took the back off the frame and stretched the fabric over it with some toy stuffing behind it.

I hadn’t had them on display for a while, but now I’ve got them out they are going to take pride of place in my bedroom for a little while.

How do you display your favourite jewellery?

I love this. I’ve got lots of vintage brooches from my mum and they’re just tucked away in a dresser drawer. Need to display them like you have.

I rarely wear brooches, but your collection is beautiful.

The embroidered brooches are some of my favorites! I also really would love to have one of those tiny mosaic brooches.

How splendidly pretty and creative! I’m on the search for a budget-friendly embroidered floral brooch like these beauties to add to my brooch collection – they really are charming works of art.

They are definitely little works of art. I love thinking of a woman in the 40s or 50s making these.

Those embroidered broaches are adorbs! They remind me of the ones my grandmother used to wear. You’ve got a lovely little collection, and such a stylish way to show them all off!

Really lovely brooches. I saw your blog on Chronically Vintage and wanted to visit. Im more of a twenties and thirties lover but the 40s and 50s are good too. I really want to get more vintage into my home but Im so focused on my wardrobe thats where my vintage budget goes. The brooch/decoration idea is a great one.

I love the 20s and 30s too although I think the 40s and 50s are better suited to my shape. Putting a little vintage into your home doesn’t need to cost too much, it’s all about little touches here and there.
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a read. xxx

I think it’s a great idea to display brooches – it’s sooo true we keep them stored and sometimes even forget that they exist. Very clever.
