I never really subscribed to a magazine before, but when I saw the TV advert for Sew and Stitch I knew I’d love this one. Each week you get the materials to decorate a patch which will eventually go together to make a beautiful seaside themed quilt. The magazine is also packed with ideas and tips for lot’s of different sewing projects.
I love quick projects that don’t take up too much of my time so I like the idea of doing a bit towards the quilt each week.
The first issue included 3 pieces of fabric, three embroidery threads, some needles and bondaweb to complete the first patch. They were all really good quality and at the introductory price of 99p I was really impressed.
The instructions to put together the patch were really clear and simple, and perfect for a beginner. The magazine also included instructions to make bunting, a clutch bag and templates to decorate a cushion. There is also a detailed guide to mastering backstitch and different stitches will be covered in each issue.
Each week the patch for the quilt will include different sewing techniques and skills, which is great for new sewers to learn new skills and perfect their sewing style.
Here’s my finished patch!
I used the cushion templates and instructions to do my own thing and made a new cushion for my daughters room.
This is the design from the magazine
In my usual style I went completely floral crazy on my version.
I am planning to make the clutch bag as well later this week and have picked up lot’s of pretty fabrics to use on all the projects in upcoming magazines. So watch this space for more floral creations!
I was really pleased with the first issue and I’m looking forward to receiving the next few copies. The second issue is out now in the shops, although there is a slight delay in the first dispatch for subscribers so I’m eagerly awaiting mine along with a generous helping of subscription gifts.
If your new to sewing or just want a few fun projects then I would definitely recommend getting your hands on this one.
