Bookfest, Windmill Museum and Coffee

I posted over the weekend about our trip to Wimbledon Bookfest. On the Sunday we visited Wimbledon Common again for The Wimpy Kid Show, which is hosted by a Wimpy Kid super fan and is touring the country.

We absolutely loved the show which featured quizzes, prizes, videos about the making of the books and films and a draw along. I have been so impressed by the two visits we made to the Bookfest it’s such a great local event. I really cannot wait for next year.

While we were up at the common we visited Wimbledon Windmill Museum. Despite growing up in Wimbledon and living there until I was 22 I have never actually been inside the Windmill Museum.

Wimbledon Windmill was built in 1817 during the Regency period.

The museum cost £2 for an adult and £1 for a child so it was a very affordable outing and inside there are a selection of moving model windmills and lot’s of interesting information about windmills and how they work. There is also the opportunity to grind your own flour using various methods which was so much fun, and me and Jess were very proud of our little bag of flour.

If your nearby I’d definitely recommend the museum as a quick visit, the tearoom next door is really nice and the common is lovely for a little walk.

While on the common we did a serious amount of conker collecting, we have collected so many this year I’m not sure what to do with them all! What does one do with a big pile of conkers? Ideas please!

We also went to Paul in wimbledon Village for a quick coffee this weekend, the cakes and coffee are AMAZING and it’s a great alternative to Starbucks at a very similar price. I love that they have toys and colouring for children and mini pastries perfect for a little one.

So all in all a lovely weekend, I feel very lucky!
