The Classic Car Boot Sale

October 13, 2013
Yesterday Rob, Lila and I went to The Classic Car Boot. The event was a vintage twist on the Great British car boot featuring only classic cars and vintage wares for sale. The event was held on London’s Southbank.Classic Car Boot Sale

I absolutely adored this event and it was definitely one of my highlights of the year so far. The selection of food, cars and fashion was incredible and perfectly curated. There really was something for everyone and all three of us had a great time. Everything from vintage china sold from the back of a classic car, to food served in camper vans to a bar in an old rout master bus, old school charm was spilling out of the seams of The Classic Car Boot.

When we got there we were starving so we headed straight to the food. There was so much choice including gormet burgers, jerk chicken, lobster, cupcakes and macaroni cheese to name but a few. All served from classic vehicles. The food was all fantastic and there was definitely something for everyone. It was really busy though so there was quite a long wait.Once we’d eaten we had a good look at all the stalls and cars.

The mix of automobile history and shopping was fantastic and the vintage homewards and clothing on offer were fantastic. Clearly all the stall holders were real vintage enthusiasts and nearly all the clothing on offer was mid century with very few later pieces slipping in.I hadn’t planned on buying anything but managed to walk away with not one but two beautiful 1950s dresses. They were both in near perfect vintage condition and they were a steal at £30 and £40, both stall holders I bought them from were absolutely lovely and I enjoyed having a little chat with them both. I’m going to show them off in another blog post later in the week. After spending all that money I definitely needed a drink so we headed over to the bus bar for a pint of ale. On the top deck there were DJs playing sixties classics and we got a great view of all the fabulous vintage scooters which had gathered near the bar.Entrance to the event was only £3 which is actually cheaper than most of London’s vintage fairs and there was a lot to see here so definitely worth every penny.

I really hope they organise another one of these soon, and if you missed it this time make sure you go along next time.
