Making Monday #2

I can’t believe it’s Monday again already! The week feels like it’s flown by and I’ve been so busy. It feels like sewing and baking have really been on the back burner this week and I’ve spent loads of time doing family stuff instead which has been lovely. I’ve also done a lot of behind the scenes work on the blog. This week I moved from blogging on WordPress.com to being self hosted so that has taken up a lot of my time, however it’s great to have more freedom and I’m looking forward to taking the blog much further over the coming months.

This week vintage make comes from an issue of Women’s Weekly from 1960 and its a very pretty knitted jumper, perfect for colder weather. I wish I was a good enough knitter to confidently make this. I’ve been knitting since I was about 7 but never actually made an item of clothing. This is definitely something I’d like to include in my new years resolutions as I would love to make something like this. For those of you who are better knitters than me here’s the pattern…

Having bought enough fabric and sewing stuff last week to last me quite a while I haven’t bought a lot this week although I needed some new pinking sheers so popped to hobby craft to pick some up. They were all a little pricey so I decided to leave it. However I am actually incapable of leaving hobby craft empty-handed so I got a few things to start making christmas cards and decorations. You may think it’s a little early but I want to allow myself plenty of time. I’ll photograph my christmas bits next week as Lila has hidden them somewhere and I need to find them?!?

I the end I managed to get new pinking shears from Ikea for only £7, total bargain!

I was really happy after what felt like a ridiculously long wait issues 2 and 3 of Sew and Stitch arrived this week along with a few free gifts. There had been lot’s of delays with deliveries so subscriptions have ended up being well behind the shops.

Luckily I can now try to catch up on the projects included and last night I made these three fabric blocks for the girls to play with. I didn’t do an amazing job as I was in a bit of a rush but they’re happy with them and that’s the most important thing. I used all the fabrics I got last week as well as a few vintage ones and I’m going to try to make a few more this week. They were definitely a quick and easy project and would make great gifts.

Over the next week I plan to FINALLY finish my skirt for Fall for Cotton and catch up on the patches for my Sew and Stitch Quilt.
