Making Monday #4

October 28, 2013

I’ve had another really busy week, it started with Jess and Rob both being really poorly and off work and school. Then we went away for a few days so I still haven’t finished my skirt or whipped up any more clothing. It’s now half term so if I do any sewing it will be by night!

I did manage to get some baking done yesterday, I thought I would have lot’s of goodies baked up in time for half term. So I made oat cookies, flapjacks, sesame bread stocks and chocolate brownies. The breadsticks were really popular with Jess who has already eaten them all. I’ll be sharing the recipe very soon.

I’m using vintage jars to store the cookies and brownies.

The only other bit of making I did this week was a little jar up-cycling. I always keep hold of jam jars incase I make jam and because they can be really useful. I decided to make use of some fabric scraps I’d saved from sewing projects and glued them onto the jar using PVA glue. The others I painted inside using acrylic paint. I photocopied some images from vintage magazines and glued them on. I also used superglue to attach buttons to a jar.

I think they look cute but I’m not sure what I’ll use them for maybe for storing; knitting needles, pencils or make-up brushes.

What do you do with your old jam jars? Please comment, I’d love some inspiration.

Such splendidly pretty up-cycled vases and jars. I especially like the one with the pink background and assorted images of vintage ladies on it (I think I’d use that to house my collection of vintage clothing tags I’ve removed from NOS items I’ve bought over the years in).

Thank you, it was such a quick and easy project, I now want to stick vintage magazine images on EVERYTHING!

Those jars are so cute! We can always use more storage containers. I have a hot mess of jewelry and makeup on my desk that’s just crying to be organized.
