The Pretty Nostalgic Gathering

October 29, 2013

Last Saturday I was invited to attend the Pretty Nostalgic Gathering at Kings Weston House in Bristol. The event was organised by Pretty Nostalgic magazine and featured talks, stalls, a room dedicated to wedding suppliers, a fashion psychic and a bloggers networking event as well as a vintage fashion show.

For me Bristol is a bit of a trek but as a big fan of the magazine I just had to attend. The day was absolutely fantastic and right up my street. Everything from yummy cake with tea in a vintage cup to Jane Austen dancing the day just flew by.

A particular highlight for me was the blogging question and answer session with Annabel Beeforth of Love My Dress, a hugely succesful wedding blog which I read myself all the time. She explained how she had come to start writing her blog as well as how she gained so much success and how she manages to run the blog day to day. I learnt absolutely loads in the half hour session and left feeling completely inspired. She is also the author of Style Me Vintage – Weddings which I reviewed earlier this year.

It was lovely to meet lot’s of lovely bloggers during the networking hour and lot’s of advice and experiences. I’ll definitely be reading all their blogs and it’s always great to get some new reading material.

After the bloggers networking hour there was a group session with psychic Anthony Lewis Churchill, who was an absolutely lovely inspiring man. I was really impressed and although it’s not something I would usually do I’m going to try and arrange a private reading with him as I and a few others were very impressed. (He also has one of the most beautifully designed websites I’ve ever seen!)

The events were held both in the house and in the absolutely gorgeous yurt provided by Wedding Yurts. The yurt was so cute and snug and if I could get married again I would absolutely have to have one of these!

There were so many interesting stalls inside and had I not been on a strict budget I could have gone a bit crazy. My absolute favourite was a stall selling these fantastic little dogs made by Tabitha Cottrell, I would love to get a couple of these for my girls bedrooms.

The wedding room was like a fairy tail with some absolutely gorgeous vintage themed wedding suppliers from flowers, to stationary, to cakes everything was so pretty. It makes me wish I could get married all over again! Real standouts for me were gorgeous vintage crockery and prop hire company Bristol Vintage whose stuff was so gorgeous I could devote a whole post to it. As well as Lizzie-May bespoke wedding stationary which was so cute and creative and perfect for a quirky vintage themed wedding. I also loved the cakes from Chocolate Delores Cakes which were like pieces of art!

The day finished with a fashion show featuring clothes from the 30s, 40s and 50s, at which point my camera battery ran out and I didn’t get any pictures!

The day was fantastic and very well organised, I really hope they do another one soon as I’d love to go again.

I’ll leave you with the very inspiring Pretty Nostalgic Pledge which I think we should all give a lot of consideration to…

That pledge is terrific! I’d not caught wind of it yet, thank you for including it as part of this thoroughly wonderful event overview post. I really felt like I was there experiencing all of the fun and excitement myself, too. Now…if only one of those cloche covered cakes could magically appear on my desk… 🙂

Even though I live “across the pond” I am a big fan of the Pretty Nostalgic magazine. I am able to purchase it at my local Barnes and Noble. Someday I hope to visit and be able to see the marvelous sights and shops myself. The Pretty Nostalgic pledge is a great one to apply to our daily lives. Thanks for all the great pics of what looks like a great event. 🙂
