Give Something Really Special This Christmas with Oxfam Unwrapped

November 16, 2013

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year. A time for family to come together, a time to share gifts, a time if you are religious to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It really is a magical time of year. It can also be a time when you get a few gifts that you won’t use or aren’t to our taste.

It can be really hard to choose presents for people who don’t really want or need anything. And that’s where Oxfam Unwrapped comes in. The generally idea is that you make a charitable donation as your gift to that person, but you can choose to give a charity donation towards something that you think is specific to them, so in many ways it is still a very personal gift. It’s such a lovely uplifting thing to do and totally in the spirit of Christmas. You can also add little extras to the gift like chocolates or a seed growing kits so that the person still has a little something to unwrap.

Oxfam has made it even easier to choose the right gifts for everyone in your life by dividing the gifts into categories for different types of people for example animal lovers, foodies, guys and girls. Available gifts include a chicken, which would be donated and it’s new owners would be trained to care for it. That chicken could then have chicks and would be a sustainable source of food and income. I just think it’s the most wonderful thing to do. Other gifts include school supplies, fixing a well and mosquito nets presents that could potentially save lives.

Prices really vary but start at about £5 so even for stocking fillers and secrets santas there are plenty of options.

So while you’re wondering what to get that person who is tricky to buy for please give Oxfam Unwrapped your consideration and change someone else’s life this christmas.

To any of my friends and family reading this I would love you to get one of these for me this year. My kids I have so much in our lives and it really would mean the world to me to know that I’d been able to help someone this Christmas.

Such a lovely idea. There are so many disadvantaged people in the world that need things that we so readily use and think of as something disposable. This sort of scheme will make many people so happy. 🙂
