The Mid Century Christmas Market

December 14, 2013

Today I popped to a brand new vintage market in Hammersmith. The Mid Century Christmas Market was hosted by Bettina Scarlett Presents, Bettina is a former pin-up model turned events organiser. The market featured a great mix of reproduction and original vintage sellers as well as a vintage record stall, tea room and vintage hair dressers. There weren’t a huge number of stalls but they were all really well-chosen with a great range of prices and styles. Every stall was worth a look and they really were all to a very high standard.

As I mentioned last week I’m on quite a tight shopping budget this month so sadly I wasn’t looked for a fabulous new dress, although if I had been there were plenty on offer. Having checked out all the stall holders online the night before I decided that I wanted to pick up some new hair accessories and some jewellery.

My brother owed me a birthday present and we chose these two brooches from The Hostess Hotties stall they were a real bargain at only £5 each. I especially love the red one as I have a few red cardigans that they will go perfectly with.

From the same stall I picked up this Curious Cat floral hair clip for £8.

The Rosie Alia Designs stall featured a great selection of floral hair accessories, I had spotted a few I liked on her Etsy shop and after much deliberating I settled on this beautiful floral one. I can’t wait to try these out with different hair styles, they are perfect for brightening up simple outfits.

As always I stopped for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, today this was being served up by Calamatea Jane. The cakes all looked amazing but I couldn’t resist a mince pie, it was a christmas market after all.

This was an absolutely fantastic event with some really classy vintage sellers, the items on offer all stuck to the theme with a very 50s feel, not a 70s or 80s item in sight. I really hope Bettina goes on to make this a regular event as I will definitely be back for more soon.

I wish I’d taken more pictures but I was so busy taking in all the pretty things that I didn’t really get the chance!
