6 Fabulous Valentines Cocktails

February 12, 2014

I’ll look for any excuse to enjoy a good cocktail with friends, and this particular excuse was the impending day of love. Fay and I decided to put together a selection of our own cocktails for valentines day, and these tasty alcoholic delights are a real celebration of all that is pink and red.

After filling a trolly with all kinds of sweet concoctions we headed back to my house to get our mix on. We kind of made these up as we went along and they all came out absolutely perfect and I will definitely be making them again. My husband and our friend Kelly helped out as taste testers and we had so much fun creating them.

So if your spending valentines with a loved one or sharing time with friends or even if your spending this one on your own give one of these a try…

Roses are Pink

Ingredients:
Dark Rum
Grenadine
Morello cherries
Cherryade
Wedge of lime
Raspberries

Directions:
Add dark rum and a handful of morello cherries to a cocktail mixer
Shake these together with ice (you’ll need to give this one a lot of shaking)
Strain it into glasses/jars
Add cherries and raspberries and pour over a little grenadine
Pour over cherryade
Garnish with wedge of lime

Grapefruit Crush

Ingredients:
Vodka
Gin
Wedge of grapefruit
Juice of half a lime
Fresh grapefruit juice
Soda water

Directions:

Top with a little soda water

Cherry Lust

Ingredients:
Vodka
Cherry Lambrini
Lime Cordial

Directions:
Add a shot of vodka to the glass
Add a small amount of lime cordial
Pour some cherry Lambrini
We made ours look extra romantic with pink ice cubes made using water and a tiny bit of food colouring.

Heart of Rum

Ingredients:
Dark Rum
A handfull of summer fruits (we used a frozen selection)
Half a packet of Love Hearts
Grenadine
Red Grape Juice

Directions:
Blend all the ingredients together in a blender with a handful of ice
We firstly decorated these with a cherry and sparkler candle, however when the candle failed to sparkle we garnished with a cherry and pink bon bon on a cocktail stick.

Cupid’s Gin Twist

Ingredients:
Gin
Moscow Mixer
Lime Cordial
Wedges of Lime

Directions:
Pour a shot of gin into your glass
Poor lime in a little lime cordial
Top with Moscow Mixer
Garnish with a slice of lime
I hope you get the chance to try some of these and let me know what you think. Have a very happy valentines day xxx

Ooohhh, now these really look fabulous! I’m especially tempted (if I could drink, which I haven’t been able to for medical reasons for over 11 years now) by the Roses are Pink and Heart of Rum. Surely, I can come up with virgin varieties of those in time for Valentine’s Day next sure! 🙂

Gin Twist!! I love gin, and I feel like there aren’t many fun drinks with gin! These are adorable!
