A Great Place to Buy Affordable Vintage

February 21, 2014

I was really pleased this month when one of my favourite vintage fairs decided to sponsor this blog. Vintage fairs are one of my first ports of call for picking up new items for my wardrobe. I especially like vintage fairs because I have sold at quite a few and even organised two of my own.

The fair that really stands out to me is Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair, the word affordable being very important! Judy’s is a fair that has grown and grown and is now hosting a wide array of sellers in over 30 cities across the UK.

The fair was originally founded in 2005 in Leeds the home town of owner Judy Berger. After studying fashion at university and having a successful career as a personal shopper for Selfridges and as a celebrity stylist, she decided to organise her first vintage fashion fair.

The priority for Judy was affordability, and with the prices of vintage increasing year on year I can see why. So Judy gathered some of the best vintage sellers in the country and checked them for affordability and beautiful vintage stock and put on her first event, the rest is history.

Nine years on the thirty venues across the country are still stuffed full of fabulous fashions from the 1920s to 1980s and the prices are still very much affordable. I myself picked up one of my all time favourite 1950s dresses from one of Judy’s fairs for £40 which was a steal. As well as the usual vintage fashion fairs the company now organise The Vintage Kilo Sale where you buy vintage by weight and also several vintage markets. And if vintage home wares are more your thing then The Vintage Furniture Flea is the one for you.

Judy’s fair can also be found at several festivals including the ever fabulous Vintage at Goodwood.

As someone who is constantly talking about affordable vintage and bargain hunting, Judy’s a fair I really believe in. Keeps the prices down makes vintage more accessible. I have always been really impressed with the standard of the stalls at the fairs I’ve attended and always found that the fair has a great atmosphere.

It’s truly fantastic that you guys have such an abundance of vintage fairs in the UK that a company like this could not only have ground to be founded, but to thrive and succeed in the awesome way that Judy’s has. From across the pond, I’m a big fan of theirs as well and hope, maybe just maybe, that if I’m ever in the UK, I might be able to attend one of their events.

Over the years I’ve been a few times. There are so many vintage fairs out there now, but this is definitely one of the best.
