Vintage Shopping in Brighton

May 6, 2014

As I mentioned in a couple of other recent post Fay and I popped to Brighton on Saturday for a little shopping. Brighton is absolutely fantastic for vintage shopping as there are so many fantastic vintage boutiques and little one-off shops selling vintage style clothing. Sadly I couldn’t buy everything I loved as I saw so many amazing 1950s dresses, but I was really on the look out for a little bargain.

I prefer vintage shopping in Brighton to London, although London does have a lot’s of amazing vintage shops with beautiful older pieces they tend to be more scattered around, and areas like Brick Lane which are  a hive of vintage shops seem to have fewer and fewer older pieces and these are all very expensive. Whereas in Brighton the shops are all in a relatively small area and there are loads of mid-century offerings.

Lots of gorgeous vintage in Starfish Vintage Clothing on Bond Street

Kensington Gardens is one of my favourite shopping streets in Brighton, with lots of vintage and second-hand books.

Snooper’s Paradise features two floors of vintage clothing, housewares and collectibles from a huge array of sellers all under one roof. I spotted some amazing things at fantastic prices.

To Be Worn Again is also on Kensington Gardens. They had a sale rail with lots of newer dresses for only £8 each.

My new dress, a bargain at £8

In the end I found this gorgeous cotton dress on the sale rail at To Be Worn Again, it’s made of a lovely thick cotton and is in perfect condition. I’m going to style it in a 1950s way and I can’t wait to wear it.

What are your favourite shops in Brighton?

I must say, I love snoopers paradise too! Probably my fave Brighton shop even! Lots of buried treasure…I’ve bought vintage teacups, sewing trimmings and a lovely 60’s coat sewing pattern that I’m making extremely slow progress on (combination of lack of coat sewing confidence and less inclination to make a coat with our current sunny days!).

It was a great day that will be repeated again soon!!! I hope! The weather was great too and we really did pick up some bargains! I think I weeped a little when I looked at how much I spent! xx

“I want to go to Brighton!” [banging my fork and knife on the table in my best imitation of Miss Lydia Bennett] Alas, I’m thousands of miles away, but those vintage clothing shops look like such a treat. Great photos! Someday I’ll get there . . .
