Folie a Deux Launch Party

June 9, 2014

Last week Fay and I popped to The Arts Theatre Club in Soho for the launch of an exciting new clothing brand. Folie a Deux is the creation of two friends who have worked together within the make-up industry for many years. They have put their passion for old-fashioned glamour and dressing up into creating a glamorous feminine clothing line.  The range is an eclectic mix of vintage styles made using sumptuous fabrics with a luxurious finish with a slightly darker feel than your usual girlie vintage range.

The range is inspired by the 30s, 40s and 50s and is ridiculously glamorous, every little detail is finished to perfection making it look amazing and fit beautifully. I was pretty blown away by the collection and this is definitely a brand I will be following and coveting!

The event itself was held in a stunning venue in Soho. The Arts Theatre Club is hiding away in a basement on Frith Street, with red furnishings, low lighting and an old piano it was the perfect venue to really set off the darkness of the clothes and the slightly macabre feel of the website and branding.

We were treated to lovely drinks and black and white cupcakes featuring skulls, clowns and the Folie A Deux logo. We were greeted by the lovely Katie and Halimah and had a good chat about the clothing and background of the company. I was really inspired by their creativity and attention to detail. We were then treated to a couple of fantastic performances which were quirky and theatrical, the whole event was perfectly curated to compliment the brand and dresses.

I was hugely impressed with the selection of dresses which came in a range of fabrics and prints. Katie explained that the shirt dresses feature concealed zips at the back making them fit perfectly over your curves which being a bit busty was something that really appealed to me. I loved the little extra details like piping and ricrac trim as well as gorgeous buttons which made the dresses real stand out pieces to me.

The collection is a little out of my normal price range (blogging doesn’t pay very well). However they are the sort of thing that I would save up for and invest in as they are classic, would suit all seasons and last for years. The dresses are simply beautiful and I’ve fallen in love!

*Apologies for the quality of my photos, the dark lighting was atmospheric and great for a party but very hard to get good pictures in!

Here are some of my favourite pieces from the range…

Scarlet Dress in Wine – £200

The Squeeze in Multicoloured Tartan (my favourite) – £100

Fiction – £155

Gwen – £75

Paramour – £90

Scarlet in Gray – £200

An interesting brand, one to keep an eye on. I have been after a floor length gown for a while, this one comes very close, but I dislike the lace insert. Thanks for the introduction, I shall head over to their website now! Looks like you had fun at the launch, always nice to attend those kind of dos! x
