It’s Friday 13th But I’m Feeling Lucky

June 13, 2014

As legend has it Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. For me though, unlucky days remind me how lucky I am and who couldn’t feel blessed when the sun is shining, your family are healthy and happy and the weekend is about to begin. My own husband was born on a Friday 13th and that makes it lucky because the best man in the world was born!

So I thought on the unluckiest of days it would be nice to do a little post on why I feel lucky and making the most of all the best things.

I’m such a summer person I really hate miserable rainy days which are short, grey and gloomy I need my vitamin D! So this time of year when the weather is perfect and the days are long I always feel ready to face anything. I’ve made a huge effort to make the most of the sunshine and have so much time outdoors with the kids and my friends. I feel lucky to have the chance to enjoy that time.

IMG_9570This week we took a trip to Ham House in the sunshine. Look at that amazing blue sky!

I feel lucky because later next week I’m off to Cornwall with some friends, something I’ve wanted to do forever. I’ve never been to Cornwall before and I cannot wait for the break. I’m a bit terrified of the 5 hour drive which I’m doing all on my own but it will be so worth it.

I feel lucky because my garden is coming together. Two years ago we bought a house with a massive overgrown garden, it has been so much hard work getting it under control but in the last few weeks it has really started to come together and I can’t wait to spend the summer enjoying it with Rob and the family. We also managed to buy the girls a climbing frame on Gumtree for just £200, we wanted one so badly but couldn’t afford a new one. The girls are delighted with it.

I feel lucky because I have amazing friends. I’ve picked them up at school, at work and through being a mum and I feel lucky that I am surrounded by wonderful women who inspire me, keep me company, gossip and care. Friends are the most important thing in the world.

I feel lucky because I’m content with everything I have.

I’ve also made an effort to not let things bother me, be it little arguments, naughty kids or a messy house. These things pass and can be dealt with.

Anyway I’m sorry to be gushy but I am so happy at the moment and having been through many stressful times to get here, feeling this settled and content is the best feeling in the world. I’ve really learned to find joy in the small things and life feels great!

Excellent post. I just started blogging, and am intrigued by anything inspirational and about women, like this piece. Your feeling of happiness today has motivated me to be happy too.
Thanks so much! Have fun in Cornwall.

I think it’s important to remember how good things are…glass half full and everything! I work in a poor community with so many problems and honestly if many people realised how tough life really can be it hope people would take a look at their own lives and realise how good it is. Oops…that was a little more long winded than it was supposed to be! 🙂
