Fashion Outfit of The Day Vintage

50s Gingham and Messy Hair

September 15, 2014

Yesterday I headed out for the day with Rob and the girlies, we’re still making the most of the gorgeous weather we’ve been having before the cold sets in, so I wore one of my most summery vintage dresses. I hadn’t planned to take outfit photos so I’m wearing trainers, I have messy hair which needs colouring and had hardly any make-up on! However I love the dress and the beautiful surroundings so decided to get a few snaps anyway.

This pretty late 50s/early 60s dress is by California Cottons and I picked it up at an antiques shop in Kingston a couple of months ago. It’s such a pretty dress made from blue gingham and features a pretty embroidered rose design all over. It’s a great fit on me and it’s had quite a few wears over the last few weeks.

We visited Hatchlands Park, a National Trust property in Surrey. On this occasion we just had a wander around the grounds and garden and didn’t go into the house, as we’ve visited it before. It’s so lovely to take a drive out of London and get some exercise and fresh air. I feel really refreshed after taking in the beautiful views and running around with the kids.

A couple of days ago I added a new album to my Facebook page featuring every outfit I’ve worn on the blog. It reminded me how many gorgeous dresses I have, but also how many I am yet to include on here. I am going to really really try and feature more outfit posts on here as they are always my favourites. I’m hoping to get some more summer dresses worn before it’s time to put them away for the winter.

I’d also like to do more posts like this where I’m just dressing as I would everyday. There are plenty of blogs who have the most stunning outfit photos and look like models. I absolutely love them too. However I am 28, have two kids, never have time to get my hair dyed and definitely don’t feel I have to be perfect. So if none of you mind I’m just going to keep it real!

Big thanks as usual to Rob for taking my pictures for me. He’s a good’un!

Splendidly pretty dress. Gingham has got to be one of the most cheerful, cute-as-button fabrics ever. I can never get enough myself – in fact, my first ever poodle skirt as a child of six years old was pink and white gingham. 🙂

For some months now I have been convincing myself that I can rock gingham. I have some yellow but have been spying lilac, orange, and even green. Now seeing you I am getting a skosh closer to just doing the darn thing.

    Thank you.

    Cheers,

You are so cute! My 2 kids are grown now but I spend lots of time watching my one year grandson, so I am doing it all over again just with an extra 30 pounds and 30 years on me ! I really enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work
