A Day Out at Surrey Docks Farm

October 31, 2014

I’ve been so lucky this year with the number of lovely days I’ve spent out and about with my lovely daughters. Nothing breaks up the weekly grind of school runs and housework like going on adventures and spending time together.

One lovely day out we had a few weeks ago was a day trip to Rotherhithe where my brother lives. After a really long drive (how does it take an hour and a half to drive 13 miles???). We made it to his lovely house and walked down to the best city farm I’ve ever visited. Surrey Docks Farm is located just by the river, with fantastic views across to Canary Wharf.

The farm is home to loads of lovely animals, in particular a band of crazy goats, who love to eat from your hands and one particular one who quite liked trying to eat our clothes! We also enjoyed a really tasty lunch in the farm cafe. Which serves up amazing brunches made with gorgeous fresh ingredients, many of which are grown onsite.

The farm is free to enter and has a little gift shop with pocket money priced treats, so it’s a really affordable outing.

After spending a couple of happy hours at the farm we had a walk and scoot along the Thames path and enjoyed the views over the river, we also had a little explore round Greenland Dock which is a few minutes walk away.

Here’s a little video we made of our day, which sums up the fun we had far better than me writing too much about it…
