Cath Kidston SS15 Preview

December 3, 2014

Last week I went to the Cath Kidston press preview to see some of the delightful new stock coming in next year. I’m a huge Cath Kidston fan, I even used to work there about 10 years ago. So this was an event I was really looking forward to. It’s always exciting to see the new prints that are coming in and I really love the dresses and bags a lot!

The theme of the Spring/Summer collection is titled ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ and is inspired by Cath Kidston’s Cotswold home. Everything has a feel of the British countryside. From the blue skies in the Cloud print to the rolling hills in the Beacon View print to the animals in the Home Farm print, this collection celebrates the great outdoors and I love it!

The day itself worked perfectly with the theme. We entered through a little courtyard lined with bright cheerful wellies. Once inside there was a seating area made from hay bales and little tables made with planks and buckets. We were given beer in milk bottles and little sandwiches in paper bags. The new stock was displays on more hay bales and little washing lines. It was all beautifully thought out and really set off the beautiful collection. My favourite little touch was a little flock of tea cosy lambs.

I’m going to go through each print at a time and show you the bit’s I really liked…

Clouds: This was the first of the new designs which I saw and it’s a little different from what I’m used to seeing at Cath Kidston. This is a far cry from the usually florals and illustrated designs that we associate more with the brand. This really is a breath of fresh air, but I really like it as it’s bright cheerful, and a little larger and more bold than we usually see.

Beacon View: This print shows the beautiful view from Cath Kidston’s home. I really liked the design and the colour palette of this print which would look really lovely alongside some of the floral prints. In my own house I have a lot of mismatched Cath Kidston china and I’ll definitely be adding a few pieces of Beacon View to the collection.

Billie: Billie is Cath’s new dog and he has his own cute little china range. Including salt and pepper shakers, a cake stand, biscuit jar and butter dish.

Farmyard: Both colourful and retro, the farmyard collection is cheerful and sweet and features lot’s of great pieces for children and adults alike. this range features lots of cute knitwear as well as mugs and a pretty green dress, which I have my eye on.

Ric Rac: One of my favourite features on some of my vintage dresses is the ric rac trim. It’s such a pretty vintage look and I love Cath Kidston’s playful take on this fashion classic. The design features on china, glasses and some beautiful fashion pieces. This is one of my very favourite Cath Kidston designs yet and I know I’m going to be coveting most of it. My very favourite piece is the skirt which is colourful and eccentric and perfect for me.

River Fish: Another highlight for me was the river fish collection, this print features a plethora of pretty coloured fish. Think wading in streams in your wellies and pond dipping, this print is delightfully charming and adorns some Cath Kidston classics including wash bags, towels and bags.

Other highlights from the collection include a beautiful embroidered nightdress similar to some antique ones I own, bright floral pumps and touches of denim.

Oooohhh, be still my KK loving heart! There are some massively charming pieces here. I especially like the Beacon View dress and the cloud print bags.
