Recent Charity Shop Finds

January 8, 2015

I love a good charity shop haul, I’ve not however shared one on here for a really long time. I’ve not actually found the time to have a look through my local charity shops for a little while, so when Rob suggested we pop out to look in a couple I jumped at the chance.

I’ve been on the lookout for some hand knitted vintage sweaters and cardigans for a while, as they work so well over vintage dresses in the winter as well as with some of my other vintage outfits. So I was delighted to stumble upon some lovely hand knitted cardigans in a shop near me. I used to volunteer in a charity shop when I was join my teens, and there was an old lady who used to knit all day because she enjoyed it and then donates her makes to the charity shop. So I’m wondering if this is something similar as there were so many knits in there. I chose 3 things that i know I’ll wear all the time.

Charity Shop Pink Jumper

Knitted Sweater 2

First up was this cute sweater that I’m planning to wear with my high waisted jeans. I really like knitwear with shorter leaves as they look great as part of a vintage look. This only cost £1 so it was a fantastic bargain.

Pink Wooly Cardi

Pink Cardigan 2

Next was this lovely pink cardigan which fits beautifully, this will go well with so many of my vintage dresses. This cost £5.

Yellow Knitted Cardi

Yellow Cardigan 2

I also spotted this wonderful yellow cardigan, which is so bright and cheerful. This was also £5.

I then went on to another charity shop near me where every item costs £1.99. I’ve found some amazing vintage stuff in there before and some fantastic bargains.

Charity Shop Playsuit

Playsuit 2

I found two things there, firstly this cute playsuit from Miss Selfridge with pretty flower buttons. I’ll get loads of wear out of this in the summer, but I might try it with tights and boots for the colder months.

Handbag Handbag 2

I also got this lovely leather vintage handbag. I can never resist a classic bag and this one was in lovely condition. I’m going to give it a good clean and polish this week.

What do you think of my finds? I’ve really missed charity shopping so I’m going to try to do it a bit more from now on. It’s a great way to support charities as well as being a green and affordable option for getting new clothes. I’ll also be donating some of my own stuff to make room for the new.

With charity shops is it a case of “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” ? I want a lovely vintagey cardigan that’s granny chic. I want that yellow cardigan lol.

Haha I always see other people thrifted finds and wish they were mine.
You definitely need to keep trying with charity shops and go as often as possible as the best things go really quickly.

I just love seeing a good charity shop haul! That pink cardi is gorgeous, and the handbag was also a good find. I’m afraid I have just given up clothes shopping for 100 days so no charity shops for me for a few months, though I did get in quite a few good hauls leading up to Christmas to keep me going! Happy New Year! x

Ooooooo that yellow sweater is lovely! We don’t have many good shops like that where I’m from. We have “thrift” shops by Salvation Army or Savers but they’re less thrifty/vintage-y and more affordable second hand clothes that are more hand me downs than vintage. boo! sometimes i can find one or two things though!

It can be a bit like that here too. Although we do have lots of charity shops it takes a lit of hunting and some good luck to find nice vintage bits.

I am new to following your blog and this is my first comment 🙂 I love the hand knitted finds! Gorgeous colours too. It has been a while since I have found any vintage clothes in charity shops. I have been lucky and found vintage patterns though so its not all doom and gloom xx

Oh, I do miss foraging into charity shops back when I lived in London…there is no such a thing here in Spain, sadly. I used to live in the West Hampstead area, and always found great vintage crockery, tablecloths and doilies, and antique books. How I miss it! :-‘(
