Fashion Outfit of The Day

A Retro Dress from Debenhams OOTD

February 7, 2015

Although my favourite era for vintage fashion would have to be the 1950s I like to play around with different styles quite a lot and I especially like to pay homage to the 60s with some of my outfits. Todays dress jumped out at my because the fit and fabric both remind me of dresses from my collection. This particular one is actually from Debenhams and I bought it with a voucher I was gifted at their press day back in November.

It features a monochrome black and white pattern in a textured fabric that reminds me of Crimplene dress from the era, the cut and length are also very retro appropriate. At £28 the dress was also a great price and I know I’ll wear it a lot as it’s easy to wash and really stretchy and comfortable to wear.

Vintage Shoes

I wore the dress with my Marks and Spencer fur coat to keep the cold at bay and a pair of real vintage shoes. I bought these shoes about 5 years ago in a charity shop. I’m a size 6 and I always find it hard to find vintage shoes that fit, so i was delighted with these ones which fit like a glove and are ridiculously comfortable.

You may have also noticed that I’ve had my hair cut short. I’ve had it this length before and loved it and I wanted something a bit more versatile. I’m really excited to try some curly vintage styles on it, so watch this space!

The dress I’m wearing is available from Debenhams here.

Totally fun look! I stick close to home with the 40s and 50s usually, too, but agree that it’s fun – and important even, I’d argue (to stretch and flex your sartorial muscles) to dabble in other decades at least once in a while, too.

    *PS* Your shoes are AMAZING!!!
