Embracing the Seventies for Autumn

October 18, 2015

70s dress Oaks ParkWhen I first started blogging about vintage fashion, I certainly wasn’t stuck in any particular era. I just loved everything about vintage fashion. From hunting out amazing bargains to the social stories the clothes themselves tell. My wardrobe has always contained clothes dating from the 40s to 80s and it definitely is an eclectic mix. In recent years I found myself wearing 50s style more often than not, but to be completely honest I was getting a bit bored and felt the need for a change.

Autumn Vintage OutfitSeeing all the gorgeous late sixties and seventies trends which are absolutely everywhere this season led me to revisit the depths of my wardrobe and try on a few things that I’ve either not worn before or have left unworn for quite some time.

Seventies Autumn OOTDOne such dress is this late 60s/early 70s dress which I bought from a charity shop last year. I bought it because I loved the colour and print and it fit me perfectly. But it only got it’s first wear this week, when I had a little afternoon date with Rob and we went for a lovely Autumn walk in the park. I absolutely loved wearing this outfit from the headscarf to the coloured tights and even the heavier make-up, my look may have just grown up a couple of decades!

Primark Camel BootsI wore the dress with my new boots which were a bargain £15 from Primark this week. I popped in looking for a comfortable pair of camel coloured boots to go with another outfit, and since I bought them I’ve worn them with everything.

Seventies DressAlthough I will always dedicate the summer months to my original and reproduction fifties dresses, for Autumn and Winter I think the more earthy tones of the seventies may be making much more of an appearance. I can’t wait to show you some of the other outfits I’ve picked out for the coming weeks.

Seventies Autumn OutfitMy resolution for the rest of the year, is to mix up my vintage as much as possible and be more creative with my style. Do you wear vintage, and if so do you stick to just one decade or mix and match?
