Adventures in Colouring No1

December 30, 2015

I have always been a big fan of colouring, it’s the most relaxing way to pass a little time being thoughtful and creative. Even before colouring became as huge as it has recently, I used to hunt out adult colouring books and settle down with a nice set of pencils.

In the last few weeks my occasional hobby has become a little bit more of an obsession. It’s not like me to do things by halves and I’ve thrown myself into colouring big time! As this blog has always been about me sharing things I’ve been doing and enjoying, I thought for the time being I’m going to write a regular post about colouring. Whether it’s reviewing my favourite colouring books or talking about the best felt-tips or even just sharing some of my own colouring I’ll try and do a little update every now and then.

Over the last few weeks I’ve bought a few colouring books that I’ve really enjoyed and I thought I’d start by sharing them with you.

Colour Me Mindful UnderwaterI picked up Colour Me Mindful Underwater a few weeks ago to take on a train journey with me. I love that the book is quite small and has lots of simple quicker designs as well as more detailed ambitious ones. So far I’ve coloured in quite a few pages with a mixture of felt tips, colouring pencils and glitter gel pens.

Colour Me Mindful Colouring Book FishI’d love to try some of the other Colour Me Mindful books, I’ll definitely get another one once this one is complete.

Liberty Colouring BookAs a little gift to myself I bought a copy of the Liberty colouring book. It features a section of Liberty’s most famous prints and I’ve loved colouring the book in, mostly with felt tips. This is definitely a book I plan to complete, as I love almost every page.

Harry Potter Colouring BookI’ve recently rekindled my love of all things Harry Potter and have been re-reading the books and re-watching all the films. Rob bought me the Harry Potter colouring book as a little gift and I’ve just started filling in the pages. I’ve been using my Derwent artists pencils on this one as I wanted to add a little more attention to detail to the pages.

Harry potter Colouring Book Sorting Hat

Harry Potter Colouring Book Dumbledore's ArmyI usually put on a audio book and settle down on the sofa for an hour with a big cup of tea to do my colouring. After a busy day juggling the kids and working from home, it really is a great way to wind down.

Have you tried colouring? What are your favourite colouring books?

As you already know my obsession with colouring is a little unhealthy! Although it is a great stress reliever. I have The Mindfulness Colouring book which is a great size and I use it when commuting if I am not reading. My big book of choice at the moment is the Enchanted Forest book, it is all kinds of magical and really does while away the hours!

There is so much going on at work and home at the moment so this is the perfect chill out activity!

    Great post xx

    These all look so great!

I am a huge fan of colouring for when I don’t have any ideas or inspiration to paint/draw…but feel the need to art. I have quite a few, but my favourite one is a Paris colouring in book (of course).
