As I mentioned in yesterdays blog post, one of the main things I want to do on the blog this year is share more of my vintage inspired outfits. It’s nice to have an incentive to get dressed up everyday and I love wearing all the lovely clothes in my wardrobe and making sure they all get worn. Today I put on a dress from Lindy Bop which I bought in the sale a few weeks ago. Luckily it’s still available and reduced to just £20.99, so if you’re looking for a winter dress at a bargain price then this might be what you’re looking for.
Today was a typical English wet and windy day and Rob and I braved the cold for a few minutes to get a few shots of my outfit in the garden. I paired the lovely tartan dress with an old belt and my Clarks Orla Kiely shoes which I blogged about a couple of weeks ago.
I don’t own that many dresses which work well in winter. I’m always drawn to pretty, bright floral summer dresses and never really buy dark colours. I chose this dress because I knew it work work well in the winter worn with tights and a cardi. The dress is made from a lovely soft brushed cotton and reminds me of flannel shirts. I love the simple 50s shapes and the cute scalloped detail around the neckline.
Lindy Bop sizing can really differ from dress to dress and this one comes up a little bigger than most. I bought my usual size 14 and it fits really comfortably. I like that theres loads of room in the bust and I had no pulling or squatting at all. I’m 5’6″ and worn with a full petticoat the dress sits just below the knee on me, making it the perfect length.
The dress also comes in a selection of other prints, many of which are also in the sale at the moment. It is also available in kids sizes.

I love this style b/c in the winter I can put a turtleneck underneath and then it looks kind of pinafore style and keeps me warm. I’m super wimpy about the cold! LOL!

It’s a challenge to find winter looks when you live in dresses like we do! I layer up with cardigans (I have so many colors at this point!) and rotate between tights and thigh high socks. I don’t like to wear tights too often so I try to only wear them once or twice a week. In-between I may have a pants day or wear these thigh high wool socks I get from American Apparel that go so high, it’s pretty much tights without the annoying top and waistband bits haha!
