Fashion Outfit of The Day Vintage

Collectif Mimi Dress OOTD

February 24, 2016

Every time I vow not to buy any more reproduction and concentrate on building my collection of real vintage, the same things happens! I check the Collectif website, fall in love with absolutely everything and just can’t help myself! This is especially bad when they have a sale. I have such a weakness for their gorgeous clothes and grabbing a fantastic bargain. So when they had a 50% off sale recently I accumulated rather a large haul. One of the items I picked up was the lovely Mimi dress, which I’ve worn absolutely loads over the last few weeks.

Collectif Mimi dress Review
This dress is now almost completely sold out, unless you’re a size 6 (lucky you!). But I thought I’d grab a few pictures and talk about the fit and quality, as they have lots of similar items available at the moment.

I’m always really impressed with the quality of my Collectif dresses. The fabric is usually quite a heavy so it hangs beautifully. They also usually have a little stretch, as this one does which helps if you’re quite busty like me. I always go for a size 14, and I’ve had no problems with fit so far. A few people I know have found the sizes inconsistent, but I usually go for similar styles that I know will work well for my shape.

I usually don’t go for polka dots, as the repro market is absolutely saturated with them. But I couldn’t resist the cute combination of roses and dots and the sweetheart neckline totally sold the dress to me. I also love anything navy as it’s the best alternative to black. I love the super flattering gathered detailing on the bust and the lovely full skirt. This could be worn with a petticoat for a fuller more 50s look.

Art Deco Necklace OOTD
I wore the dress with an original art deco era glass necklace, which I recently picked up on eBay as part of a jewellery bundle. I love how the green beads pick up the leaves in the dress. On my feet I’m wearing an original pair of vintage 1960s shoes. These were a car boot sale find and a firm favourite of mine as they are so comfortable. I recently found the exact same pair of shoes in another colour, at a car boot sale recently.

1960s Shoes OOTD
I’ve been making a lot more effort to get dressed up every day this month. I’m not great at putting vintage style winter outfits together at this time of year. Dresses like this which go with everything and are easy to accessorise are absolutely perfect for me.

Super-duper pretty dress! That is one of the loveliest floral prints I’ve seen in a long time.

Big hugs & happy tail end of February wishes,
    ♥ Jessica
