March 2016 Birchbox Review

March 15, 2016

March 2016 BirchboxLast month was a busy one for me, I managed to have a good house sort out and also went a bit crazy with my vintage selling. The kids are even busier than usual doing loads of activities and generally keeping me very busy. This hasn’t left much time for blogging and it’s something I definitely want to devote more time to over the next few weeks. February flew past and I didn’t get round to writing a review for last months Birchbox, so I’ve gone straight to my lovely March Birchbox which arrived just over a week ago.

Birchbox March 20016 Contents
Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box, packed with high-end surprise beauty products which arrive at your door once a month. When I first opened it, this months box didn’t really inspire me. However since giving all the products a try I have completely fallen in love with two of them and really enjoyed using the rest. I think the main reason I wasn’t initially impressed is because the box contained 3 hair products and although I like to try them, they aren’t my favourites and I usually favour make-up and skincare products.

Arrow boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm

March Birchbox Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm
The first product I tried, is probably my favourite from the box. The Arrow boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm is a lovely moisturising lip balm which adjusts to your lips PH to create a colour perfect for you. It looks like a clear lip balm but on my lips it adjusts to become a lovely subtle pink, whilst lumping my lips with lots of moisture. Since first using it I’ve had it on every day and I absolutely love it. My lips look natural and soft with just enough colour to finish off a natural make-up look perfectly. This full-sized product is usually £11

ModelCo More Brows

The other product that I really love is the ModelCo More Brows. I’ve been loyal to my usual brow product for a long time now and wasn’t really looking for a change, so I was surprised how much I liked this and how much I’ve used since it came. The product is a quick-dry gel, it contains hair like particles to make the brows appear fuller and it really works. It is applied with a mini mascara style wand and the colour is perfect for me. I found it really easy and quick to apply and my brows look fuller and well-shaped when I use it. This full-sized product usually costs £13 and I will definitely be repurchasing it.

Philip B Drop Dead Straightening Baume

March 2016 Birchbox Philip B Drop Dead Straightening Baume
The next product was a Philip B Drop Dead Straightening Baume. I very rarely wear my hair straight at the moment, as my hair has got quite long and I think it looks better with some curl. However when I do wear it straight this will be a very useful product. It helps relax unruly hair and shortens blow dry time, which I love because I have a lot of hair and it takes ages to dry. This definitely smooths out frizz and makes it easier to blow dry, so I’ll be keeping it to one side for when my hair’s a bit shorter. The full-sized version costs £20.

Polaar IceSource Moisturising Gel

March 2016 Birchbox Polaar Icesource Moisturising gel
The only skincare product in this months box was the Polaar IceSource Moisturising Gel. This is a great moisturiser if your skin is in need of a pick-me-up. It contains glacier water and rehydrates dehydrated skin. I loved the cooling feel of this product on my skin and it definitely did help when my skin was feeling a bit dull and dry. I’m going to save the rest of the sample for the summer, when I usually go for a lighter moisturiser and I think the cooling effect will be lovely in the warmer weather. The full-sized product costs £29.90.

Amika Nourishing Mask

Another hair product from this months box was the Amika Nourishing Mask. I haven’t actually tried this product yet, as I’ve not had time for a hair treatment this month (poor hair!). The product claims to fight dryness with its hydrating and completely natural formula. I’m a huge fan of natural products so I am looking forward to trying this one. It contains sea buckthorn berry and jojoba oil which softens the strands and repairs damage in just a few minutes. The full-sized pot costs £19.99

This Works Sleep Plus Hair Elixir

Lastly another hair product from the box is the This Works Sleep Plus Hair Elixir. All the products in the world will not beat a good nights sleep when it comes to looking after yourself and looking good. This over night spray-in hair treatment contains essential oils to not only treat your hair, but also to help you have a good nights sleep. This smells absolutely amazing and I found the scent extremely soothing and I definitely went straight to sleep all the nights I used it. I love the idea of waking up to healthier happier hair after a good nights sleep. The full-sized product costs £16.

March 2016 Birchbox Review
So despite not feeling inspired when I first looked in the box, I’ve actually received a good selection of products all of which I’ll be using. See how this box compares to last years March Birchbox here.
