A Smart Retro Work OOTD Featuring Simply Be

February 19, 2018

It can be hard incorporating vintage and retro looks into everyday and work outfits. This year I thought it would be fun to create some looks using both vintage and high street clothes. Todays outfit is from Simply Be and was sent to me to feature on the blog. Rather than going for my usual dress option I thought it would be fun to create an outfit with one of their range of skirts. I was inspired by the 70s and think this would be a great option for work or as an everyday smart look.

I chose this pretty grey ruffle skirt, which is made from a lovely smooth jersey material. It is available in sizes 12-26. I love how versatile this is, it could be worn with a nice sweater or a simple white cami in the summer. It’s definitely a great staple that I will be mixing and matching a lot. The skirt has a lovely drape to it and is quite full. I really like that it falls just below the knee.

I paired it with a navy pussy bow blouse. This is another versatile option, available in sizes 10-32. I like the idea of pairing this with my jeans for a casual daytime look, which could be dressed top with heels for the evening. For another work look this would look fabulous with some high waisted trousers.

To complete the retro 70s inspired look, I added an original vintage belt and my Orla Kiely shoes. I’m really looking forward to trying other combinations with both pieces. Adding a vintage accessory can completely change up an outfit and the belt I’ve used was only a couple of pounds in a charity shop.

Fit wise, I went for a size 14 in both items which is my usual size. I found both to come up pretty true to size. The skirt has an elasticated waist, making it quite easy to get a good fit. The blouse has no stretch, but is pretty roomy and easy to get on.

Great post! I’m always trying to find ways to wear my vintage repro pieces in work and pairing with modern pieces may be the way to bridge that gap x
