Getting Creative with Crepes – The Perfect Kit for Picture Pancakes

I LOVE pancakes! I enjoy making them, sharing them and eating them. I love getting everyone sitting at the table, having several pans on the go and making as many pancakes as I possibly can all at once. I also love to show off my flipping skills! So naturally I love pancake day!

I usually like to make classic crepes, sometimes I’ll make American style pancakes and occasionally I’ll get creative and add chocolate chips or fruit to the mix to make them a bit more interesting. One thing I’ve never tried is pancakes with pictures on them. So when I was sent Creacrepe Creative Crepe kit from Prezzybox I was excited to give it a try.

The kit comes with a crepe shaker with the ingredients marked out on it and a crepe pen to mark out your designs. Now you can start channeling all those awesome pancake art videos that were everywhere a couple of years ago!

I love the ease of not having measure out the ingredients, which saves on mess and speeds up the process of making spontaneous crepes. The urge to make pancakes strikes me a lot, so this is definitely a great tool for me.

The shaker has a no lump filter, to catch any clumps and makes for perfectly smooth pancakes. We all know that there is nothing worse than a big floury lump in the middle of your pancake mix.

It’s a great option if you wan’t to make pancakes with your kids, as it’s so easy to get the quantities right and it’s very fun to shove all the ingredients in and dance around shaking it all up. And trust me it takes a lot of shaking, so put some tunes on and make that part fun.

It’s also really simple to prepare, I literally just rinsed it out and was ready to go, there aren’t lots of small bits to put together and from opening the box to preparing the pancakes was about a 5 minute process. Perfect for speedy breakfasts.

All the measurements are marked out on the shaker and you just fill them up to the lines. My biggest recommendation would be to sift the flour first, this will help to avoid lumps. I didn’t do this the first time and ended up chucking all the ingredients into my mixer to whisk out all the clumps.

To make the chocolate outlines, you add some of the batter into the crepe pen and mix with a couple fo spoons of cocoa powder, give it a good shake and you’re ready to go. Now it’s time to get creative, start with simple designs and hopefully move on to more advanced ideas.

These were my first attempt and although they’re not worthy of a viral video, I think they’re pretty cute and I had loads of fun making different designs. With a little practise I think they’ll only get better!

It’s all very fun and easy and this I’d definitely something I will keep using. I love that it saves on mess, makes it easy to measure out ingredients and it makes pancake making even more enjoyable. they tasted pretty good too! If you know someone like me who is a total pancake addict, this would make a brilliant gift.

I am yet to because a crepe artiste, but my first attempt was really entertaining and I can’t wait to make many more in the future. I also love the idea of trying different colours and designs with the crepe pen. I’m going to have a go with some food colouring. Watch this space!
