Fashion – A Walk in the Woods in an Ethical Tie Dye Dress

April 29, 2019

As you will probably know from previous posts, one of my big goals for the year was to discover and wear more clothing from sustainable and ethical fashion brands. I’ve always worn a big mix of vintage finds and high street. Having learnt so much last year about the impact of the fashion industry on both the environment and the people who make my clothes, I decided that I wanted to buy fewer high street pieces, sticking to key pieces that I will get lots of wear out of and filling my wardrobe with garments with a better footprint.

I recently shared a gorgeous dress from Nomads Clothing and today I have another lovely dress to show you. This pretty fair-trade dress is beautifully hand tie dyed. I’ve always loved tie dye and I think it looks great on this beautiful light airy dress.

The dress was perfect for a Spring walk in one of my favourite places. I often visit this peaceful little woodland just outside London. At this time of year with the bluebells in bloom its especially beautiful.

I wore the dress with a comfy pair of sandals and one of my favourite vintage bags, which I found a few years ago at a jumble sale. The dress is very versatile and can be dressed up or down. I found it comfortable and flattering for a walk in the woods, but would also wear it on holiday or for a trip to the beach. The tie dye print is just gorgeous and as it is done by hand each dress varies slightly.

I sized up in this dress and went for a 16, I usually wear a 14 but having checked the size guide online the 16 was a better option for me. It’s worth checking each individual item on the Nomads website as sizes very slightly from style to style. I love the loose fit of this dress and the pretty empire waist line. The dress is very lightweight, but has a lining which makes it hang beautifully. As well as the gorgeous blue tone that I chose it also comes in a pale blue and red tie dye finish, which is equally gorgeous.

Tie dye is going to be a big trend this summer, so it’s great to find an easy to wear dress that is made with organic cotton and fairly traded. I talked a bit more about Nomads as a business in my last post featuring them, so if you’d like to know more about them and the people who make the clothes click over there.

I’m planning to wear this one a lot over the summer, so be sure to check out my Instagram over the coming weeks to see other ways I’ve styled it. I have a couple more beautiful dresses from Nomads that I’ll be sharing on here too, so watch this space for more.

Check out the full range of gorgeous fair trade dresses over on the Nomads website.
