Sad News – Why I Didn’t Blog This Summer

October 4, 2019

You may have noticed that over the summer I have been absent from the blog and a bit more quiet on social media. I don’t often share my personal life here on the blog, but I wanted to talk a little about the reason for my time away.

On July 11th we lost my beloved Dad after a short illness with cancer. It was the most awful time and something that we just hadn’t seen coming. He had felt unwell for a few months, with no diagnosis. On July 4th we finally got some answers, but they were worse than we ever could have imagined. We were told he had advanced pancreatic cancer and our hearts shattered into a million pieces.

He was admitted to hospital that day and just one week later we said goodbye for the last time. I feel completely broken at his loss. He was such a big part of my life and the best grandad to my kids. I adored him. The following two months have been a mixture of supporting my mum and helping her with administration, helping to organise the funeral and lots and lots of tears.

I decided to take the whole summer off, to spend time with my family, to look after the kids during the school holidays without distractions and just slow down and take time to grieve.

I would like to talk about him, who he was and why I loved him so much. And I will do this in a future post. But for now I would really appreciate your support and patience while I get back on track with work, catch up on all my emails and learn to live my life again without my dad.

I’ve found it hard getting back into my routine since the kids went back to school and that’s fine. I’m being gentle with myself. But I do have lots of ideas and I’m looking forward to being creative and getting back to the blog at a pace that feels right for me.

Thank you for reading and always supporting me and the blog. I really do love all my readers and followers.
