10 Beautiful Vintage Dresses for Winter Adventures

December 6, 2021

Well winter is well and truly upon us! The mild Autumn days became foggy frosty winter ones over night and just like that I’ve switched over my wardrobe to some of my lovely winter dresses. I can’t wait to go out on chilly winter adventures and enjoy all the beautiful sights of the season. I’ve also got out all the beautiful darker dresses that I’ve been saving for the Vintage Frills Shop and my first drop of my Winter Collection is ready to go. For this collection I’ve channelled all the gorgeous floral loveliness that you’d usually find in the shop, but in darker more wintery shades. They are all perfect for layering up with lovely knitwear, wooly tights and boots, or dressing up a little for special events.

I love wearing my favourite dresses year round and never save them for best, pretty things are too good to be locked away in the wardrobe and definitely need to be worn. This small collection features 10 gorgeous dresses and some lovely jewellery and accessories to match. Most are perfect for year round wear, but especially perfect for this time of year. My love affair with floral Laura Ashley dresses continues, with some beautiful romantic dresses, alongside a couple of classic cosy corduroy dresses in navy. The collection will be live on the shop at 6pm Monday 6th December.

10 Beautiful Vintage Dresses for Winter Adventures

First up is this gorgeous floral Laura Ashley dress in the most beautiful shade of blue. This is a really classic Laura Ashley shape and I’ve had so many different dresses in this design. I love the simple silhouette, with its pretty square neckline, puff sleeves and very full gathered skirt. And of course it has pockets!

This classic button down shirt dress features a beautiful floral print and I absolutely love all the bright colours on the black background. This is such a wearable dress and the kind of thing that I’d would wear constantly if it was in my size! I live in simple floral dresses with warmer additions during the colder months and I would wear this with my DM boots, converse trainers or heels depending on the occasion!

This lovely dress is perfect for winter events as she comes with a long sleeved matching jacket. She could be worn year round and would be perfect in summer minus the jacket.

For something extra special this beautiful Laura Ashley dress ticks all the boxes. She’s made from a heavier cotton and has beautiful detailing around her sweetheart neckline. I love the beautiful V shaped waist and she has the most gorgeous sleeves. This one could definitely be worn year round, but would be absolutely perfect for a Christmas party or winter wedding too.

I hardly ever wear black, so I’m always on the lookout for pretty floral dresses with a black base, which for me are a little more wearable. This Laura Ashley dress is an absolute dress and check out the back! So pretty!

You may have to hide the pretty lace up detail while the weather is cold, but she can totally have her moment come summer!

The last of the floral Laura Ashley beauties in this pretty floral party dress, she has a beautiful full, gathered skirt and a lovely slightly off the shoulder neck detail, again perfect for winter events and parties, but also perfect to see you through the whole year.

For winter I absolutely adore Laura Ashley corduroy dresses and this drop waist dream is the perfect winter dress to stay cosy in. I love the high neckline and side button detail and like most Laura Ashley dresses with sleeves are fabulous.

This Laura Ashley dress comes in a heavier cord and again is a lovely warm addition to your winter wardrobe. I am in love with her oversized patch pockets and simple easy to wear silhouette.

If you’re looking for the ultimate black dress for the season, this vintage Karin Stevens dress has the most stunning cotton lace collar. The dress is 100% rayon (viscose) giving her a lovely light drape. She features beautiful mother of pearl buttons and the waist is elasticated at the back for a really great fit. This one has been in my own collection for years as I love her so much, but as I very rarely wear black, I thought it was time to pass her on to a new home.

Lastly this fabulous 1980s Berketex dress has been with me for a really long time. I bought her for my first ever vintage business about 12 years ago and she’s been in my collection ever since. I finally decided to sell her, so here she is! The dress is full and blousy at the top, has a very nipped in waist and matching belt and the fitted inner skirt has layers and layers of peplum on top creating a really beautiful drape. I adore the interesting construction on this beautiful dress.

I hope you love the whole collection as much as I do. Look out for the dresses when they launch at 6pm, alongside lots of other beautiful vintage pieces. The shop also has over 200 other lovely vintage items at the moment and lots of gorgeous Christmas gifts.

Look out for my second drop from the Winter Collection, which will feature lots of fabulous shades of red and will be coming very very soon!
