I am actually completely rubbish in the heat. I like days that are exactly 23 degrees and no hotter. So I’ve basically been melting this week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I’ve not been sitting in front of the fan in my knickers I’ve been wearing some of my favourite cotton vintage dresses including this 60s one. I got this at a car boot sale a few years ago for about £3. I think it’s made from a 50s fabric, but put together in the 60s which I just love!

Honestly though, I think I'm due a little clear out. I've always been pretty good for passing on clothes that I haven't been wearing. But my biggest hobby is hunting out gorgeous vintage, so my collection does sometimes get a little out of hand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When I find something I love, I wear it all the time! You all know my gold vintage belt gets worn with everything, but my latest obsession is my vintage daisy hair clip. I just love it with everything.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What accessory do you absolutely love that finishes off every outfit? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Some of favourite things, some lace from my grandmothers antique shop, a lovely reminder of her and so many happy memories. A vintage necklace which Rob bought me for my 30th birthday. I had admired it in an antique centre so many times and I was so happy to finally own it. It’s my favourite piece of jewellery. A little celluloid bangle which Rob bought me for my last birthday, he took me to an antique fair and then to my favourite National Trust property, it was the perfect day. My favourite perfume, which I get a new bottle of every now and then for Mother’s Day or Christmas or whichever celebration is nearest to me running out! Little treasures that make me smile every time I use them.

Ad - PR product if I was going for a summer night out, instead of staying in and watching every episode of everything on CBBC on iPlayer with the kids, this is what I’d wear! Not that it’s not totally OK to get dressed up for staying in too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not buying anything new for the whole summer, so I’ve been shopping my wardrobe and wearing lots of old favourites. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here I’m wearing my William Morris print dress, which I wear loads and is perfect for dressing up and down. With vintage necklaces, a vintage bag and my new @hottershoes wedges (gifted) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

50s beaded cardigans are just the prettiest! I don’t wear them too often, but I like to dress them down with a t shirt and jeans or a very simple dress or they can be a bit too much!
This is one of my old favourites, but I’m in two minds about keeping anything that I don’t frequently wear, so may be passing it on soon.

I think it's absolutely amazing how much traction sustainable fashion has got in recent years. For many reasons fast fashion needs to fix itself up. But we absolutely cannot ignore the fact that being able to dress sustainably is an absolute privilege. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌸 Size - many sustainable brands just do basic size 10-16 ranges and very few have an extensive size offering. This can be because of smaller production runs. Buying from brands who offer made to measure can be a great option, but it will cost more. It is also worth mentioning that the second hand market isn't always an option for bigger sizes. With fewer items made in larger sizes the second hand market can often be quite minimal. It is an option, but not anywhere near as easy as buying fab second hand small and midsize pieces. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am always trying to find larger sizes for my vintage business and it is definitely harder.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌸 Price - new sustainably made items are often priced quite high. This is because when you cut out the exploitation, use organic materials and run a smaller operation you just can't compete with fast fashion. However it does also make wearing these brands harder for lower incomes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dressing sustainably by buying second hand can be a more budget friendly option. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We also need to be open to the fact that we should all be buying fewer items and investing in things that will last. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌸 Representation - Just like bigger high streets brands, we need to be asking if the brands we buy from are using people of all shapes, sizes, colours, ages and abilities in their marketing and on their websites and socials. If your favourite brands aren't representative of all their potential customers, we should probably be calling them out on it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Big sunnies and no make up, a big hat to keep the sun off, my favourite perfume and book and lots of cute accessories. Perfect with gorgeous vintage dresses and casual jeans alike.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ageing can be a bit of a scary one, but then I think about how much more confident in myself I feel at 34 than I did at 24 or 14, and that a wrinkle here and a grey hair there is a small price to pay!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
