It’s Monday, What are You Reading?

December 10, 2012

It's Monday, What are you Reading copy

This weekly meme is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It’s a chance for us to share the books we’ve read this week and what we have planned for the following week, plus any reviews we’ve written.

This week has been a bit of a nightmare with all 4 of us being sick so reading has been the least of my worries. The only real progress I’ve made is with my audio book of The Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling, which I’ve nearly finished. I’m looking forward to reviewing this one as I have a lot to say! It’s such a well written book and although it is by no means a ‘feel good’ book I have been totally gripped.

I’m hoping that next week I’ll be able to catch up on a lot of reading. I have a big pile of books to read and review and I’m also going to be doing a little season of books with a vintage fashion theme, which I thing will go well with the blog. So here’s my fiction reading list.

043

The Vintage Teacup Club by Vanessa Greene – With Love at Christmas by Carole Matthews – The First Last Kiss by Ali Harris – Laura’s Handmade Life by Amanda Addison – From Notting Hill to New York… Actually by Ali McNamara – Never Can Say Goodbye by Christina Jones

I also have a lot of non fiction, mostly cooking, baking and craft books to feature so here’s my non fiction list.

045

Find & Keep by Beci Orpin – The Home Sewn Home by Vanessa Arbuthnott – Handmade Wedding Crafts by Betty Bee – The Cake Parlour Sweet Tables by Zoe Clark – Thrifty Style by Janine Chisholm – Modern Designs for Classic Quilts by Kelly Biscopink and Andrea Johnson – Stitch and Sew Home by Eline Pellinkhof – Gran’s Kitchen by Natalie Oldfield – Make It and Mend It

We’ll see what I manage to achieve over the next week.

I did manage a couple of reviews. Firstly I reviews the first two books in the Crossfire Trilogy by Sylvia Day, I kind of hurried this review after a sleepless night with the girls but I think it gives a reasonable impression of my thoughts on the books.

I also reviewed Vintage Wedding Style by Elizabeth Demos, this has been available in the US for a while but was released this week in the UK.

I am also holding a Giveaway on the blog this week, it’s my first proper giveaway with the chance to win some beautiful jewellery. The giveaway is open worldwide and I’d really like it to be a success so please please enter here and I will be very grateful!

Win Win Win copy

I hope everyone has a happy healthy week, and to anyone who commented last week I’m really sorry I didn’t get the chance to reply to everyone, it was just one of those weeks! Your comments are always appreciated.

What a lovely list of books! It would be hard to pick just one, but The Vintage Teacup Club looks very tempting. Enjoy!

People seem to be of two minds about Casual Vacancy, so I’m glad to hear that you liked it. I look forward to also reading it in the future. I also love how you put everything together here with a true ‘vintage’ feel to it indeed. Enjoy the rest of your reading week.

Oh my goodness. I hope everyone gets better soon. It’s so difficult to care for the kiddos when you are feeling awful yourself.
I hope this week is better than the last one and that you get some reading done! 🙂

It’s worth sticking it out as I think it gets better as you go on. Very glad I finished it. i have so many thoughts on it that I’m a little daunted about writing a review!

Shame you guys have been sick. I have The Casual Vacancy to read but I don’t think I will get to it for awhile. I have heard it is dark and lately I am not in the mood for dark. The Vintage Tea Cup sounds cute go with that one (and being very superficial and basing only on the title).

The Casual Vacancy is very dark. If you need cheering up don’t read it! Having said that I did really enjoy it.
The Vintage Teacup Club has such a pretty name and cover it’s impossible to resist!

First time on your blog – how nice! I haven’t read any of your other books (besides the Rowling) – I hope you have a good time with them, some quiet time before the Christmas madness – is it possible? 🙂

I was really into The Casual Vacancy as well, even though it’s pretty intense. I loved it.
