(I managed to get pen on my box while unwrapping it!)
Another month, another lovely Birchbox through my door. For those of you not familiar with Birchbox, I’ll get the formalities out-of-the-way now. Birchbox is a monthly subscription box containing a selection of mid and high-end beauty products as well as little bonus gifts. These are mostly sample sizes, with the occasional full size as well. I love getting my little box of surprises each month and usually love most of the products inside. The box costs £10 a month + £2.95 P&P.
This months box is so pretty and goes perfectly with the theme of this month which is Happy days. The theme is apparently about nostalgia and capturing memories. I’m not entirely convinced that this translates into the contents of the box which I think could have been a bit brighter and more cheerful to go with the theme.
So here are a few of my thoughts on what was included this month…
Agave Healing Oil Treatment: (Full size product from £16)
I alway like receiving luxury hair products and I really liked this one. This lovely hair oil smells absolutely heavenly, and a very tiny drop goes a very long way. I have really thick hair so I usually use products really quickly, but I could see even the small sample lasting me a few washes. Although I really liked the product, it’s probably not something I would repurchase as I don’t really need it, however I am really enjoying using it. For hair that needs rescuing from dryness this is definitely a product I would recommend.
Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream: (Full size product £25.50)
I am so impressed with how many Benefit products I’ve received since I first starting getting Birchboxes in January. I love everything about this eye cream, from the packaging to the smooth formula to the lovely way it feels. This is a really great eye cream. A good eye cream is essential for me. Not only am I naturally prone to dark circles, I also don’t get nearly as much sleep as I should so I love an eye cream which brightens up under my eyes. I am definitely going to buy a full size pot when my sample one runs out.
Korres Citrus Shower Gel: (Full size product £8)
I’m already a fan of Korres products, their fragrances are always amazing and bath products are always my favourite treats to myself. I was really happy to get another generously sized Korres product in this months Birchbox. I love the way this one smells. Although it is described as citrus it actually reminds me of an old-fashioned aftershave in the best possible way. It’s an almost nostalgic, old-fashioned scent and I can’t get enough of it. I keep opening the bottle to have a sniff. It’s a great shower gel, a little goes a long way and the lather is perfection. I will definitely try to get more of this, and if anyones stuck for christmas and birthday presents for me this year, I want more of this!
Skin & Co. Truffle Therapy Serum: (Full sized product £42)
I know I’ve mentioned smells a lot in this post, this Birchbox really is sending my nose into overdrive! This is another product that smells divine. This smells so good I want to eat it! But I think that’s one of the things which makes luxury products stand out from cheaper ones. I had no complaints with this serum, it made my skin feel lovely. I applied it after giving my face a good clean and was very happy with how my skin looked and felt afterwards. Would I buy again? Unfortunately not. Not because I didn’t really like the product, but because it’s definitely got a high-end price tag.
ModelCo Lip Lacquer in “Morocco” (Full sized Product £15)
Sorry this one smells fab too. This cute strawberry scented lip gloss is everything you could want in a lip gloss. It’s really moisturising, looks lovely and stays put. I did think the colour was a little boring though, the same as every other nude lip gloss. I did really like the product though and would consider purchasing it in another colour. This sample size will be going in my handbag for a little everyday gloss.
Urban Fruit Magnificent Mango (£13.50 for 6)
This was a nice little bonus item, I’ve had these before and really like them. The mango is definitely my favourite. I had to give most of the packet to the kids as they like them even more than I do.
Birchbox Happy Days Photo Clip
I’m giving this to Jessica as she’s far more likely to use it than me. The box also came with some great discount codes for photobox products, which I will probably use to get a canvas print for the house.
My thoughts overall…
Individually I loved all the products in this months box, however I didn’t think they really went well with the theme. At first glance I wasn’t overly impressed, but as I tried each product I changed my mind and decided this box was a winner.
