Every year the offering from reproduction vintage companies seems to be getting better and better. As someone who likes to mix between authentic vintage and newer, sturdier items for everyday wear, I can’t get enough of modern vintage style clothes. I’m also totally in love with some of the matching pieces I’ve seen for little girls. Recently Lady V London added a children’s range to their collection and everything is absolutely adorable. I was asked if the girls and I wanted to review a set of matching dresses and obviously I jumped at the chance.
We chose the girls a pair of Hepburn dresses in White Blossom and I picked up a Madison dress in the same print. We went for a lovely walk and took a few pictures of us wearing our beautiful new dresses. Getting both kids to look towards the camera at the same time is almost impossible, but we still had loads of fun trying!
When the dresses arrived I was really impressed with the quality and the lovely thickness of the cotton. When wearing dresses with full skirts I prefer a slightly heavier cotton as it always hangs better and washes really well. The print of the dresses was really pretty and perfect for hot summer days. I really liked the ruched satin detail on the bust of my dress, it gives a really nice 50s feel to the outfit and breaks up the floral print really nicely. The girl’s dresses are more simple and classic, which I think is perfect for little ones.
Size-wise I found my dress very true to size, I went for my usual 14. There is plenty of room in the bust, so if you’re extra curvy this dress would be a great choice. The dress falls below the knee on me (I’m 5’6″) which is just how I like it. The skirt is nice and full, so would be ideal for wearing with a petticoat too. This dress is available from a size 8 to 22 and if you’re looking for larger sizes, the Isabella dress in the same print goes up to a size 30.
Lila went for a size 5/6 and the fit was perfect (she’s 5) and it had a little growing room, so it will last her a while. For Jessica I tried the 9/10 (she’s 10) and although it fits perfectly now, I’d probably advise going a size up if you want growing room.
The dresses would be perfect for a formal occasion, like a wedding or a party. Or you could just wear them for a nice day out like we did. Even the geese came to take a look! The dresses are all machine washable, so perfect for girls like mine who like to roll down hills and climb trees!
Overall I was really happy with all three dresses and I’m looking forward to us wearing them again for an event or another day out. I love that there are so many prints available in the kids range and that there are several styles in each print in the adult range so they are perfect for mixing and matching.
