BEAUTY – September 2018 Birchbox Review

September 17, 2018

Now that I’m back to full time blogging, I’m enjoying reviving some of the things I used to write about more. One of the regular features on the blog that I never used to miss, was my monthly Birchbox review. I’ve still been receiving my box every month, but just haven’t had the time to photograph the contents and get my review up.

Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box which costs £10 a month plus P&P. I’ve been subscribed for a few years now and I love getting my little monthly treat. I usually really like all the products I receive and if there’s anything I don’t need I’ll usually gift it top someone else.

September Birchbox

This months box was a really good one. I’ve been trying out all the products since it arrived last week and so far I’m really happy with all of them.

The theme of this months box is On Top of Your World and it’s all about new beginnings and fresh starts. And when it comes to feeling pampered and lovely, these fresh products are actually a great place to start!

First up is the Benefit Box O’ Powder in the shade Galifornia. This lovely blush is a warm peachy pink tone with a little shimmery gold. I have a very similar shade in my make up collection already and I love this kind of tone with my warmer more autumnal lipstick and eyeshadow colours. I know I’ll be using this generous sized sample a lot.

The blush is scented with pink grapefruit and vanilla and goes on like a dream with a big soft brush. I always love getting Benefit products in my Birchboxes as they’re such a fab brand and their products always work really well for me.

Another brand that I’ve received quite a lot in my birch boxes over the years is Eyeko. I’ve used their eyeliners and mascaras in the past and always been really impressed with the colours and quality of the product. This liquid brow liner is my first brow product from them and so far I quite like it. The Medium tone is quite subtle and the felt tip nib is easy to use. the nib is small enough that you can draw on individual hairs for a very natural look and the colour is bailable for a more defined look. I’m used to using powder brow products so this is a change for me, but I will definitely use this again.

The Marcelle City 24 Hour Anti-Pollution Day & Night Moisturising Emulsion, is a daily moisturiser which protects the skin from the effects of pollution. It is meant to help with things like dullness, dehydration and irritation. I really liked this, it went on nicely, made my skin feel nice. I have lots of moisturisers that I like, so I probably wouldn’t repurchase this one myself.

I love refreshing toners and I always really like Caudalie products. So I was really pleased to find the Caudalie Vinopure Clear Skin Purifying Toner. This gentle cleanser purifies the skin without leaving it feeling tight and dry. It includes essential oils and salicylic acid. It left my skin feeling lovely and it smells gorgeous. I would definitely consider picking this one up again.

The last product I tried is the Beauty Protector Protect and Volume spray. This product is designed to gibe your hair volume, hydration and heat protection as well as added shine. It has a lovely floral scent and felt good in my hair. However I have such thick hair, that I don’t usually opt for volumising products, so this wouldn’t be something I would buy for myself.

The box also included a £10 voucher for Bloom and Wild. I’ve had flowers from them before and they are always lovely, so I will probably use the voucher to get myself some more.

All the products I’ve included are available in full size from the Birchbox shop. You can subscribe and get your own monthly Birchbox delivery on the Birchbox website.
