A few weeks ago Lila and I were invited to a really fun event hosted by Design a Friend dolls. Lila absolutely loves dolls and particularly enjoys styling their hair and putting them into lots of pretty outfits. The event was so perfect for her and it was so fun watching her try all the different things and have a really nice time.
These lovely 18 inch dolls are available from Argos and come in lots of different finishes. You can also buy them lots of gorgeous outfits and build them their own little wardrobes. There are so many different options and designs, that you can really put together the perfect doll for you.
As well as getting to see all the different dolls, there were other toys and activities to try out.
We started with some fairy charm jewellery. Lila had lots of fun making her own bracelet with all the different beads and charms. This would make such a lovely Christmas gift for a creative kid.
One of Lila’s favourite parts of the day was getting pampered. She started off by getting her hair coloured with some hair chalks. She went for a cute blue colour which really showed up in her brown hair. There were lighter shades as well, which would well in blonder hair.
You can get a mixed set of hair chalks on the Argos website. I think they’d be fun to try on damp hair too for more intense colours.
She also got her nails done with some cute peel off nail varnish. The nail art set comes with a selection of six different colours. this would make a great gift for a child who likes having a little pamper, but isn’t old enough for grown up nail polish.
Lila was gifted her very own Design a Friend doll, who she absolutely loved. She came with some sweet white jeans and a blue top and shoes and she has lovely long hair.
They had a selection of doll clothes to try on for the event and they also had matching larger versions so all the kids could try them on to match their dolls and get a few pictures. Lila loves ballet, so the ballet outfit was the obvious choice.
I think they both looked absolutely adorable in three cute outfits. I think Lila would have stayed in the outfit all day if she could have done!
She felt really special getting picture taken with her lovely new doll.
The children were treated to lots of cute cakes and biscuits, as well as pink lemonade, which they could enjoy inside a Design a Friend themed glamping tent. It was all really sweet and well thought out and Lila felt so lucky to get the chance to be there.
Her doll enjoyed a cute little cupcake too!
Lastly it was time to design an outfit for her doll. Lila really loves art and really enjoyed this part. The whole day was so fun and we both really enjoyed all the activities as well as getting to see and the dolls. A few weeks on and she’s still playing with her new doll every day and we’ve ordered her lots more clothes for Christmas. The dolls would make a really good Christmas present, especially since you can add more clothes to the collection for birthdays and with pocket money.
