Next week I’m taking a little trip to Bath, weather permitting (it’s pretty snowy in London right now!) I’ve always wanted to go to Bath, after reading so much about it over the years. I’ve planned a pretty jammed pack itinerary, here are a few of my ideas…
Roman Baths Museum (I imagine this is completely frozen over right now!)
Bath Abbey
The Circus – Georgian architecture at it’s best
Royal Crescent – As seen in many a costume drama
The Fashion Museum – Of course!!!
The Assembly Rooms
So I’m going to try to get to all of these as well as a few other museums and if the weather improves (unlikely) some of the parks and gardens as well. Has anyone else been to Bath? Any recommendations?

January 18, 2013 at 10:12 amHi Cathy, it’s Holly (Matt’s friend). Assuming you make it there in this weather, don’t worry, the baths’ water will be fine – it bubbles up at about 30 degrees I think so won’t be frozen! You must ‘take the waters’ in true Georgian style – the only place is in the Pump Rooms (afternoon tea also very nice but expensive!), where it’s 50p a glass from the original pump at the back of the room. If there’s a queue it’ll be for a table which you don’t need – either explain to the Maitre d’ or go round to the side entrance.
Can also recommend a walking tour. They do free 2 hour ones that take in all the major sights/sites – Royal Crescent, Circus etc and are very informative. Matt and I did one when we were there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Check at the Tourist Info office for details (it’s near the abbey).
Finally, take an umbrella for, as they say in Persuasion, ‘it always rains in Bath’!

I will definitely do the walking tour and visit The Pump Rooms to take the waters!
