Sotzil is one of the communities where Oxfam-partner CONIC is working to recover land for campesinos through negotiations with the government and landowners. CONIC also provides literacy training and awareness raising on land issues, and activities to promote and preserve traditional Mayan culture. It holds workshops on self-esteem and women’s rights, and places strong emphasis on the participation of women in all its work.
