I’m always excited to try out clothes from reproduction brands who I haven’t tried before. One such brand is Voodoo Vixen. I’ve seen their lovely clothes modelled by some of my favourite bloggers before and loved seeing their collection at the last London Edge, so I was really happy when they recently offered me a dress to review. Choosing was hard, as there are so many gorgeous styles and their prints are absolutely amazing.

Sheila Voodoo Vixen Dress ReviewIn the end I chose the Sheila dress which I liked because of the colours and the lovely cat print. Despite being a big fan of cats and owning two of my own, I had no clothes which featured our feline friends, so this was definitely the dress for me. I love the mix of mid century atomic inspired pattern next to the abstract cats, it really is a gorgeous print.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Cat Print Dress ReviewMy favourite thing about the dress is all the extra details, which I often find lacking in other vintage inspired clothing. The pockets are a really nice detail, they are turned down and fastened with a button and have plenty of room inside for essentials such as an oyster card and a lipstick, which I never go anywhere without. The dress has a piped trim around the collar and pocket, giving it a more expensive finish which makes the dress that little bit more special to me. The covered black buttons on he chest and pockets bring out the black in the pattern and again, make the dress stand out from other dresses I’ve seen. The dress comes with a matching cotton belt, in the long run I will probably use a more robust one of my own to nip in the waist a little more.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Dress PocketsSize-wise I went for an XL, which is equivalent to a UK 14. Having lost a little weight recently I’m quite a small 14 now, so I found the dress came up a little big on me, although not by much. There is a full size guide on the website to guide you through choosing the right size and having measured the dress I found the size guide to be accurate.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila DressThe overall quality of the dress was really good, the fabric was nice and heavy with a little bit of stretch. It is 97% cotton and 3% elastane. All the finishes are neat and well made and the zip is nice and strong, so I know I can wear it a lot without worrying about it falling apart. The dress is machine washable, which is an essential for me.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Cat Print DressThe skirt is reasonably full, but personally I wouldn’t wear this one with a petticoat, I think it looks fine without.

I teamed my dress up with some original vintage bangles and my pink Donna shoes from Hotter.

I loved wearing this outfit, it was fun, easy to wear and very comfortable. The quality of the dress is lovely and it’s definitely something i will be wearing a lot this summer. I can’t wait to revisit the Voodoo Vixen website in the future and choose more of their lovely clothes.

I always get a little over excited when Collectif have a sale. About twice a year they reduce everything on their website to 50% off and I go a bit mad and buy all the pretties that I’ve had my eye on. This time I came away with a grand total of four gorgeous dresses and a selection of accessories. I’m planning to do a haul post soon, but for now here is a review of one of the dresses I bought.

Collectif Flamingo Print Dress

I have a bit of a thing for tropical themed prints at the moment, they make me feel instantly cheerful so I was totally drawn to this bright atomic era inspired, flamingo festooned dress. The doll dress is a new shape for me, I’ve always been really happy with the fit of the Dolores Doll dresses and don’t usually go for thin straps, but I decided to go for something a little different and I’m glad I did. I’m not a fan of strapless bras, so I wore the dress with a bra with very thin nude coloured straps and I don’t think they notice too much.

I love the fit of the dress, which I bought in a size 14. The dress has a panel of shirred elastic at the back rather than fastening with a zip which I find quite handy for getting a really good fit on a curvy figure. The front of the dress features some pretty wooden buttons and a gathered section over the bust which is super flattering. There was more than enough room across the bust and there was definitely lots of extra stretch, so this would also be a great style for busty girls with smaller waists.

The quality of the dress is fantastic, I’ve never had any problems with any of my Collectif clothing before, it all washes and lasts really well. I was also impressed with the speed in which my lovely new clothes were delivered. Despite the very busy sale period my parcel was with me within 4 days, so I didn’t have to wait too long before I could try all my lovely new clothes on! With free postage on top of the already fantastic discount I was really happy.

Collectif Flamingo Doll Dress

We’ve been decorating the house all week and I’ve had no time to anything with my hair so I just popped into a pony tail and covered it with a pretty chiffon head scarf from Bow and Crossbones. I accessorised the dress with a vintage wooden box bag which Rob bought me for my birthday from an antiques shop and a selection of plastic bangles and a wooden bracelet alongside a pair of pink Swedish Hasbeens. This was the perfect outfit for a lovely walk in the park.
