Green is my absolute favourite colour, but when it comes to clothes its a colour thats a little lacking in my wardrobe. I’ve chosen some of my favourite green clothes online and put together a wish list of some of my favourites, as well as a few white and cream items to mix and match. I absolutely cannot wait for the warm weather so I can wear more dresses skirts and playsuits. I’ve always been a fan of pairing pretty outfits with a pair of converse for comfort and talking vintage influences and doing something a bit more modern with them.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen me share a few pictures of todays gorgeous dress. I have already written about it for the Laura Ashley blog and everything about it is fabulous!

Laura Ashley Floral Ruffle Dress 2A few months ago I went to the Laura Ashley press day and saw so many gorgeous things that appeal to my love of vintage and retro clothes. For this season Laura Ashley have looked back to their archives for inspiration and this collection really does pay homage to the companies best days. As I’ve mentioned many times I adore the 70s look and all the romantic flowing fabrics and floral prints, this dress really epitomises that for me.

Laura Ashley Floral Ruffle Dress 4The Pink Floral Ruffle Dress has a high neck with a pussy bow detail at the neck as well as plenty of retro ruffles. It has gathered sleeves and an elasticated waist which is neatly hidden behind a classic tie belt. The dress falls mid calf, which is a little longer than I usually wear, but perfect for wearing with some knee-high boots. The ones I’m wearing are from Dune and were kindly leant to me by Fay (the bestie).

Laura Ashley Floral Ruffle Dress 6Fit wise, I went for a size 14 as usual and the fit was great. I didn’t have any problems with gaping at the bust and the elasticated waist was just right, but would also add a little flexibility if you’re between sizes. The dress is made from polyester crepe and doesn’t need ironing, which I appreciated as I seem to spend most of my time glued to the iron!

Laura Ashley Floral Ruffle Dress 3As the dress has quite a busy design and print, I kept accessories to the absolute minimum and only brightened the look up with a hair flower from Scarlet Ribbons. I wore my hair in a simple messy Gibson roll, I think the dress is nice with an up-do as its shows off all the details, although it would also look good with some 70s style waves. As the weather gets warmer I will probably wear the dress with a pair of wedges instead of boots, making it a great transitional piece as the seasons change.

The dress costs £110, but is currently on offer for £88 and is available on the Laura Ashley website.

*Thank you to Laura Ashley for sending me this dress for the purposes of review. All opinions as always are my own.

Around the same time that I started this blog just over four years ago, I met a lovely lady called Ronke, who had just launched her first collection for her brand Love Ur Look. I instantly fell in love with all her beautiful dresses, which were vintage inspired, but also fun and quirky. Love ur Look dresses are made from beautiful fabrics and always have loads of interesting details and four years on I have quite a few in my wardrobe.

13308322_1220204077999454_7711865981558834745_oRonke’s latest venture is a collaboration with several other vintage inspired brands. The Pin Up Pop Up is a fantastic selection of independent brands, all gathered to together in one pop up shop, to provide everything a vintage enthusiast could possibly need. The pop up is running until this Tuesday and if you can get yourself over to Shoreditch before then it is an absolute must visit. I popped in yesterday to have a look around and I found myself in clothing heaven.

Love Ur Look Pin Up Pop UpBrands included in the fabulous line up include;

Love ur Look: for gorgeous beautifully made dresses and skirts in stunning prints.

Pin up pop up love ur lookLady K Loves: for the best jeans ever (I live in mine) and fabulous vintage inspired separates.

Lady K Loves Pin Up Pop UpSilly Old Sea Dog: for fun quirky dresses in lots of fabulous novelty print fabrics

Pin Up Pop Up Silly Old Sea Dog Inna Box: for cute quirky jewellery and accessories.

Pin Up Pop Up Imma BoxIf you’re on a budget, there is also a sale section in the shop, with lots of bargains to be had. I came home with a lovely new dress from Love Ur Look and a new wrap top from lady K Loves, which I’m sure I’ll be sharing on here really soon.

The Pin Up Pop up shopMy favourite thing about this shop, is that it supports several small businesses all run by inspirational women who have worked really hard on their businesses and have come a long way to get to this point. I am really proud to be supporting their brands because they are all fantastic!

The pop up runs until Tuesday 14th June and can be found on Dray Walk, which is just off Brick Lane. Full details on the flyer I have posted above.

I’m always excited to try out clothes from reproduction brands who I haven’t tried before. One such brand is Voodoo Vixen. I’ve seen their lovely clothes modelled by some of my favourite bloggers before and loved seeing their collection at the last London Edge, so I was really happy when they recently offered me a dress to review. Choosing was hard, as there are so many gorgeous styles and their prints are absolutely amazing.

Sheila Voodoo Vixen Dress ReviewIn the end I chose the Sheila dress which I liked because of the colours and the lovely cat print. Despite being a big fan of cats and owning two of my own, I had no clothes which featured our feline friends, so this was definitely the dress for me. I love the mix of mid century atomic inspired pattern next to the abstract cats, it really is a gorgeous print.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Cat Print Dress ReviewMy favourite thing about the dress is all the extra details, which I often find lacking in other vintage inspired clothing. The pockets are a really nice detail, they are turned down and fastened with a button and have plenty of room inside for essentials such as an oyster card and a lipstick, which I never go anywhere without. The dress has a piped trim around the collar and pocket, giving it a more expensive finish which makes the dress that little bit more special to me. The covered black buttons on he chest and pockets bring out the black in the pattern and again, make the dress stand out from other dresses I’ve seen. The dress comes with a matching cotton belt, in the long run I will probably use a more robust one of my own to nip in the waist a little more.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Dress PocketsSize-wise I went for an XL, which is equivalent to a UK 14. Having lost a little weight recently I’m quite a small 14 now, so I found the dress came up a little big on me, although not by much. There is a full size guide on the website to guide you through choosing the right size and having measured the dress I found the size guide to be accurate.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila DressThe overall quality of the dress was really good, the fabric was nice and heavy with a little bit of stretch. It is 97% cotton and 3% elastane. All the finishes are neat and well made and the zip is nice and strong, so I know I can wear it a lot without worrying about it falling apart. The dress is machine washable, which is an essential for me.

Voodoo Vixen Sheila Cat Print DressThe skirt is reasonably full, but personally I wouldn’t wear this one with a petticoat, I think it looks fine without.

I teamed my dress up with some original vintage bangles and my pink Donna shoes from Hotter.

I loved wearing this outfit, it was fun, easy to wear and very comfortable. The quality of the dress is lovely and it’s definitely something i will be wearing a lot this summer. I can’t wait to revisit the Voodoo Vixen website in the future and choose more of their lovely clothes.

What feels like forever ago, when I was new to blogging I tried a few products from The Vintage Cosmetic Company. They were quite new then too and didn’t have many products, just their fab eyelashes, their eyelash curlers and their tweezers. Since then they have gone on to launch a huge array or hair and beauty tools and even have their own blow dry bar in London.

Vintage cosmetic Company Slanted Tweezers
Three years on and their tweezers are still my absolute favourites. I use them for everything from plucking to applying lashes to getting splinters out of my poor children! The problem is my tweezers always go missing, they are such a small item and I’m forever misplacing them. Over the years I’ve had my pair they’ve gone missing countless times. So having a few pairs is definitely in order!

Vintage Cosmetic Company Tweezers
I was delighted when a few days ago I was contacted by them to see if I wanted to write a review of their tweezers. Of course I was delighted to, I love sharing products I love on here and after so many years of using them I know this is a great product that I can recommend. They sent me two pairs, they do the same thing but are just coloured differently. One is pink all over and the other is yellow on one side and floral patterned on the other.

When it comes to tweezers I like sharp slanted ones, perfect for plucking out stray brows while also being pointy enough at the edges to pull out a small splinter. I always find cheaper ones don’t quite meet up perfectly making plucking a teeny hair almost impossible. These ones match up really well and I’ve never had a problem with them. They have lovely sharp ends making tweezing really easy, even on the smaller hairs.

There isn’t really a lot more you can say about tweezers, these just do what they need to, they look amazing and they come in the most gorgeous packaging ever. So if you’ve been on the hunt for some new tweezers look no further! I’d also recommend checking our the rest of the range. I reviewed some of their hair tools last year as well as one of their make-up brushes and loved them too.
