Last week on a sunny Thursday afternoon I headed to Camden for an afternoon tea at the gorgeous York and Albany. The tea was hosted by Johnny Loves Rosie, a premium jewellery and accessories brand. I was joined by several other fantastic bloggers and it was absolutely lovely getting to know everyone, while checking out all the pretty things.

Johnny Loves Rosie Blogger LunchWhen I arrived the tables were beautifully set out with displays of the latest collection of jewellery as well as lovely personalised gifts for us, including a monogrammed clutch bag and little initial necklaces.

They have also launched a bridal range which includes hair pieces, corsages as well as beautiful jewellery for your big day. chlo-bo-labradorite-sparkle-flower-heart-braceletAs you may know my jewellery collection is a pretty big one. I love accessorising all my outfits with pretty pieces and I’m always on the lookout for lovely things to wear with my clothes. I was recently given the opportunity to review something from the ChloBo website. They sell a gorgeous range of stackable pieces of jewellery, which are perfect for mixing and matching.

chlo-bo-labradorite-sparkle-flower-heart-bracelet-reviewI chose this lovely rose and labradorite stretching bracelet, with a cute little heart charm. I thought it would go nicely with some of my pastel coloured floral dresses as well as brightening up simple casual looks.

chlobo-labradorite-sparkle-flower-heart-braceletThe bracelet is really delicate and simple and I love the pretty stones and rose gold beads, the little details are so lovely. It is made with high quality Sterling silver and coated with rose gold.

chlo-bo-labradorite-sparkle-flower-heart-bracelet-close-upChloBo jewellery is made in the UK, which is always a big selling point for me as I’m passionate about supporting British companies. The range is inspired by freedom and travel, with different global influences.

chlobo-rose-gold-heart-braceletI really like the boho feel and the fact that you can build up a collection of jewellery and build different stacks.  You could go really heavy and wear loads, or just keep it simple with one.

chlobo-rose-gold-heart-bracelet-reviewAll the charms have different meanings, so for example with my bracelet the Labradorite is the semi-precious stone of spiritual awakening. When held, it is believed to have calming and healing powers. The heart is worn as a symbol of love.

chlobo-rose-gold-and-labradorite-heart-braceletI was really pleased with the quality of the bracelet, which came in a sturdy presentation box. I think it would make a wonderful gift for a special occasion. In the same way that you would add to a charm bracelet, you could keep adding new bracelets to the stack over time. ChloBo also have a wide range of necklaces, rings and earrings to compliment the bracelets.

I am entering the Cosmo Blog Awards again this year. If you have a minute, I would really appreciate a nomination in the Lifestyle category. Thank you! You can place your nominations here.

Ways to follow Vintage Frills

Instagram – Twitter – Facebook – Pinterest – Google Plus – Youtube

I’m really enjoying my recent return to being a vintage dealer. After a few years off, concentrating on the kids and the blog returning to the world of selling has reminded me why I love vintage so much. It’s handwork tracking down amazing things to sell, but so far it’s also been a lot of fun. I thought it would be nice to occasionally share some of my finds on here. Todays items are all available on my Etsy shop and I think they’re amazing.

I recently got my hands on some gorgeous deadstock (unused) vintage jewellery and accessories which I will be gradually adding to my shop. They are all on their original cards which are just as beautiful as the items themselves.

Deadstock Hair GripsVintage Deadstock Hair Grips – £5

French Twist Hair AccessoryVintage Deadstock French Twist Hair Barrette £6

Red Deadstock ClipVintage Red Plastic Hair Clip £6.00

Necklace SetVintage Children’s Necklace and Bracelet Set – £6.00

I find items like these so fascinating, and it’s nice to be able to buy them with their original packaging in the same way that women would have bought them in the past. They could be used or kept in their packaging for display purposes.

I’ll be adding a few more accessories to my Etsy in the next week I have also just added lots more dresses, so keep checking back or favourite the shop.

A few weeks ago I popped to Bloggers Fashion Week, an event for bloggers to meet up and be introduced to lots of amazing brands. One of the brands that really stood out to me were Mink and Stone. They offer a service wear you can design your own beaded jewellery online from a huge selection of beads chains and lengths of necklace or bracelets. Once you’ve played around and designed your perfect piece of jewellery they make it up and send it to you. I couldn’t wait to create something of my own.

Mink and Stone Rose Bracelet

A couple of weeks later after playing around loads on their website and designing lots of different things I settled on a lovely spring themed bracelet with beautiful pink roses. The website is really easy and fun to use. You just have to select the item you’d like to make, there are lots of choices of length for necklaces so there’s something for every taste. You can then start selecting which beads you’d like to include. There are a huge number of beads available so it helps if you select the colour you’d like first.

Once you’ve chosen the colour chain you’d like and made sure the length is right, you can then pay for your jewellery and a few days later it will arrive through your door. I really enjoyed the process of creating my perfect bracelet and also had fun just playing around on the website. You can save all your designs to edit and come back to later or just take inspiration from some of the designs that are already on the site.

Mink and Stone Review

Mink and Stone

My bracelet arrived after a few days, it was well wrapped in tissue and delivered in it’s own jewellery pouch which is perfect for storing it away and keeping it safe as well as being a really nice touch if you’re giving it away as a gift. I was really impressed with the delivery time as well. I also appreciated that you have the option of adding your twitter account so that they can tweet you a preview of your made up piece of jewellery before they send it out.

Mink and Stone Jewellery

The bracelet itself was absolutely beautiful and I was so impressed by how pretty the rose beads were and how nicely it had been put together. It is going to look absolutely perfect with some of my pink vintage summer dresses and I think it will be a favourite for a long time to come.

Mink and Stone Bracelet

I think Mink and Stone is just a fantastic idea and is a really affordable way of having a lovely bespoke item to treasure. I’ll definitely be considering as a gift option for friends too, as I’d really like to design different things to suit their different styles and personalities.

If you’d like to have a go at designing your perfect piece of jewellery visit the Mink and Stone website.

We don’t wear brooches enough these days! I personally think a little brooch on a coat or cardigan can finish off an outfit nicely and I have quite a few that I’ve collected over the years, some are family pieces from my grandma and others I’ve picked up at vintage fairs and charity shops. Recently I’ve come to love looking through the #NoveltyBroochFriday hashtag on Instagram. Some of them gorgeous and some more eccentric offerings, they are a delight to behold!

Eternal Cat Brooch

Until now I’ve not really owned any thing worthy of the Novelty title, all my brooches are pretty tasteful, pretty crystals, painted designs and embroidered pieces have thus far been the staples of my collection. I also don’t actually wear any of mine as often as maybe I should. When I was recently asked to review something from the Eternal Collection website, I was delighted to see how many fun novelty brooches they had on offer and also that so many of them reminded my of real vintage pieces that I’ve admired from afar. I was also tempted by their selection of clip on earrings, but in the end I just had to have this adorable jewelled cat brooch.

Vintage Cat Brooch

I may have two cats lodging in my home, but I’m far from being a crazy cat lady UNTIL NOW! I’m sure this brooch has upped my cat loving status and I’ve been wearing in on my leopard print coat with pride ever since it arrived. I really really love it. It’s a little bigger that I expected so it’s not particularly subtle, but I think that’s a good thing, after all novelty items are there to be seen.

Eternal Collection Cat Brooch

I was really impressed with the quality of the brooch, which is absolutely smothered in clear and black Austrian crystals  on a gold-plated background. I love the cat’s cute little green eyes too. At £25 I think the brooch is pretty reasonably priced as well.

Vintage Style Cat Brooch

The brooch came in a pretty little blue box, carefully wrapped in tissue to ensure he arrived at his new home safely. I thought the lovely packaging would make him perfect as little gift for one of my cat loving friends of which there are many!

If cats aren’t really your thing there are a plethora of other designs available on the Eternal Collection website. From flowers to birds to pretty little fans there is definitely something for everyone. The brooches and earrings are perfect for vintage lovers and I’d definitely like to pick up a few more pieces from the website in the future.
