This weekend I took a little trip to the 3 charity shops in Carshalton Village near where I live. I always find really good things in them and they are particularly good for vintage textiles and teacups. I wanted a couple of things for our bedroom which is still undergoing it’s makeover. I managed to resist buying everything I liked but didn’t need and came away with a little pot to keep my make-up brushes in, a frame which I am going to paint cream and a gorgeous rose print vintage tablecloth. I can’t decide whether to leave it as it is or turn it into something else.
The frame cost £2 and the pot was £1.50
I bought a new magazine this week called Homemaker which is absolutely fantastic. It’s full of all the things I love, vintage style crafts, shabby chic, baking and home ideas. The first issue came with a creative christmas source book full of pretty papers and cut outs, including lots of pictures of vintage dress patterns. I love them so much but not sure what to use them yet. Will keep you posted.
The magazine cost £4.99 you can visit their website here
I also fancied a little baking over the weekend but was very short of time so picked up a few cake mixes in Sainsbury’s and rustled up some blueberry and spiced muffins. So desperate was I to bake that I made them in the middle of putting the girls to bed and they ended up ever so slightly well done, but still taste amazing!
My slightly well-done muffins!
What have you been doing this weekend, has anyone else found anything good in charity shops?
