Me Made May – Day Two

I’m absolutely loving taking part in Me Made May 13, which is a challenge hosted by Zoe over at So Zo… What do you Know. I’ve really loved seeing everyone else’s outfits on Twitter and Instagram and I’m going to be checking out the Flickr group later.

Even on days where I don’t manage to wear something handmade I’m going to try and get some sewing done. It’s exciting to think of all the great things I’ll have made to wear this summer.

I took a little trip to Wimbledon yesterday to check out the charity shops on the off-chance of finding a rare bit of vintage fabric and finally struck gold in the new Oxfam shop. I managed to get these two lovely vintage double sheets. I love the bold prints and I can’t wait to make a couple of dresses with them. The pink one came with two pillowcase and cost £3.99 for the set and the purple one was £2.99. They’re in great condition and the quality of the fabric is amazing, so much cheaper than buying something new!

Today I completed a project that has gone on far too long, I have finally finished the navy 1960 dress which I seem to have been working on forever! All I had to do was finish the zip and hem, which didn’t take long at all. I am so happy with how this one came out. The pattern was really easy to follow and it fell well straight away. The fabric was really easy to work with and I love the fact that I could wear this all year by just changing what I wear it with.

As I mentioned when I blogged about the dress before, I didn’t follow the pattern exactly. I left out the lining and finished the dress with pink bias binding to add my own touch, which luckily worked really well.
