Fun At The Fair

May 8, 2014

I love a bank holiday weekend. It’s the best feeling knowing you get an extra day for family time, relaxing and not having to get early. Added to this that the following week will only have 4 early starts and I’m a very happy mum. The first bank holiday in May is always my favourite as the weather always seems to be beautiful and the spring is in full bloom.

This bank holiday we went to a country fair that visits nearby Morden Hall Park every year and for some reason we’ve never been before. The fair features lot’s of traditional fun like side shows, prize livestock, ferret racing and lots of fabulous food, cider and some huge bouncy castles.

It was quite pricey to get in, so straight away the cider fund was diminished and at £3 a go on the bouncy castle per child we ended up not being able to go on everything we wanted to, but all the shows were great. My favourites were the ferret racing and terrier racing – who doesn’t like to see animals having fun and competing after all!

I took a few pictures of our lovely day out and thought I’d share a few on here…

DSC_0339I love old fashioned carousels, the kids absolutely love their ride on this one which was super fast.

Country Fair 1The Park was looking gorgeous in the sunshine and we had a little run around before and after going to the fair.

Country Fair 3I wore a 1940s style dress from Lindy Bop and enjoyed a couple of ciders while the girls bounced on numerous bouncy castles. (Not the best photo of me ever!) We also watched these sheep do a few tricks and spotted this super cute pony foal with it’s mum.

Country Fair 2The girls had such a fun day, there was loads of traditional entertainment as well as rides and inflatables.

I hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekends. What did you do?

How wonderfully fun!!! I adore a good fair or traveling carnival, too. I’m soooo hoping that one will come through town this year and that I’ll be feeling up to making it. I either keep being in the hospital or feeling too rough otherwise to make it (I’ve only been once in the past several years and almost missed that for the same reasons, too). I love the atmosphere there, almost regardless of what rides I hop on. It’s just fun to be surrounded by the familiar scents, sights and sounds of a classic carnival.
