Last week we got back from the gorgeous Isle of Wight for a week of beaches and sunshine. I did manage to quickly take a look in a few charity shops as we drove through Newport and managed to pick up a few things. As I’m trying not to spend I was pretty restrained.
I can’t resist vintage sewing patterns and having sold a few from my collection recently I had room for a few more. In one charity shop I found a huge box full of 1960s patterns, there were about 50 there and all just £1 each. It was really hard to choose as there were so many and in the end I went away seven of my favourites. They are also all around the right size for me. I haven’t had much time for sewing recently but I’m definitely going to try to make some of these soon.
I found two vintage pillowcases for just 30p each. I always snap up pillowcases either to add to the miss-matched pillow on my bed or for small sewing projects. I’ll probably use these two for sewing as the ones on my bed are all pink or blue.
I also bought this vintage tablecloth for £3. The colours are a bit dark for my house so my plan is to make a skirt using the fabric. I love using tablecloths for skirts as they often have a border which looks fantastic at the bottom of a skirt.
Lastly I got this shirt waister dress for £6. I love the colours and was really pleased that it still had it’s matching belt. It’s a bit hot for long sleeves the moment so I’ll probably save it for later in the year.
What do you think of my purchases? Have you bought anything nice in any charity shops lately?
